Languishing in the minority of both houses of Congress, and losing the White House - twice - to a man whose political instincts are only a couple notches above those of one Mr. Quayle, the Democrats have taken on, or perhaps absorbed, a new personality and character. Gone are the moderate patriots of the World War II generation. Gone are the staid and balanced liberals whose politics - did not include - the destruction of our culture and traditional values. Somewhere - the Socialists of the Democrat Party became Multiculturalists, Secularists, and Neo-Globalists. The power - and the money - behind the new Democrat Party is something that our government has never seen before - both in its suspect vision and its ruthlessness.
Gone is Frank Church and Sam Nunn... Replaced by the likes of Russ Feingold and Dick Durbin. Gone are the John Breaux's and Richard Shelby's... replaced by a different breed with names like Schumer and Boxer.
Rostenkowski is gone, but Charlie Rangel will be taking his place as Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee. Democrat House Speaker Tom Foley, with his ACLU rating of 91, will be replaced by Nancy Pelosi with an ACLU rating of 100.
Could it be argued that when the Republicans were swept into power - that it was mostly the kooky liberal areas that hung on to their representatives - and that these Far-Lefties are the ones who now have seniority - and control the purse strings - and will run the show?
Last evening O'Reilly said that he was surprised that Pelosi and other Liberals weren't more "buoyant" after the elections - He suggested that there is a disproportional anger among Democrats even after winning control of Congress. Is this the personality of the New Democrat Party?
For the past 6 years the Dems have been have been bomb throwers - a Washington Taliban of Liberal Elites with a "baying at the moon" kind of political strategy, discourse, and diplomacy. Now that they have power - can we honestly expect them to somehow turn the corner and develop dignity and manners? With success at the ballot box, will these roguish boors suddenly exchange hyperbole for statesmanship? Will a new strategy - something other than "Bush Lied" - emerge enabling them to solve the monumental challenges this country faces?
Having adopted outrageousness as their modus operandi, how will this wartime less-than-loyal opposition suddenly become a band of patriots with the discipline and seriousness necessary to deal with a worldwide Islamic Jihad?
The answer is simple - they won't. They will investigate. They will obstruct. They will treat our ills by dispensing sound bites. They will threaten impeachment. They will blame.
These are the "ideas" they have developed in the past few years.
In November the Liberal Jihad conquered reason with audacity. Propaganda proved itself a mighty tool when used upon the gullible and distracted.
But now that it's time to govern... God help us.
Islamic sharia law is gaining an increasing foothold in parts of Britain, a report claims.
Sharia, derived from several sources including the Koran, is applied to varying degrees in predominantly Muslim countries but it has no binding status in Britain.
However, BBC Radio produced evidence yesterday that it was being used by some Muslims as an alternative to English criminal law. Aydarus Yusuf, 29, a youth worker from Somalia, recalled a stabbing case that was decided by an unofficial Somali "court" in south-east London.
Mr Yusuf said a group of Somali youths were arrested on suspicion of stabbing another Somali teenager. The victim's family told the police it would be settled out of court and the suspects were released on bail.
However, [a spokesman for Scotland Yard] said cases of domestic violence, including rape, might go to trial regardless of the victim's wishes.

Oh really, they might? This is what happens when your liberally-governed multiculturalism-embracing country becomes colonized by a type of invader that has no interest in assimilating into your culture.
And the U.S.? Well, we have the government in place. Now all we need are more of these immigrants.

Women Love Me
No matter where I go I'm always being accosted by some ivory-skinned lovely who falls prey to the Malott charm.
Is it the dimples? The fashionable eyeware? That boyish, unassuming come-hither-smile that holds such promise?
I have no idea who this woman is... probably some poor soul who one day in an inadvised fit of desperation walked down an aisle somewhere and tethered herself to a deadbeat... and now she latches on to complete strangers in a futile attempt to rekindle the passion she once held for life.
Bless her heart. I wish her well.
CHICAGO (AP) - A public Christmas festival is no place for the Christmas story, the city says. Officials have asked organizers of a downtown Christmas festival, the German Christkindlmarket, to reconsider using a movie studio as a sponsor because it is worried ads for its film "The Nativity Story" might offend non-Christians.
New Line Cinema, which said it was dropped, had planned to play a loop of the new film on televisions at the event.
"The city does not want to appear to endorse one religion over another," said Cindy Gatziolis, a spokeswoman for the Mayor's Office of Special Events.
"Our guidance was that this very prominently placed advertisement would not only be insensitive to the many people of different faiths who come to enjoy the market for its food and unique gifts, but also it would be contrary to acceptable advertising standards suggested to the many festivals holding events on Daley Plaza," Jim Law, executive director of the office, said in a statement.
http://apnews.myway.com/article/20061128/D8LLRK9O0.html
Ah... It's for the good of the people.
My first impression is that we must be doing something right if the world will jump through such hoops of logic to protect itself from the Baby Jesus. Such an offensive display as the Christmas Story has no place in a Christmas Festival.
I'll agree that Jesus is offensive to the world... That is, if we're following Him in the right way. Sadly, the Mayor's office serves a higher power that would strike the Son of God from every facet of American Life - especially the Religious part. The world's religion, man's religion - religion without Jesus - is the goal, and always has been.
Nothing new here.

Saudis Play Joke on Cheney
There are so many negative things said about Muslims, but you just can't beat their sense of humor. That's probably why there are so many incredibly light-hearted and funny Palestinians.
Oh sure, there are pratfalls and the cleverly delivered one liner, but somehow placing a little paper palm tree in someone's hair just does it for me.

The U.S. Ambassador to the UN, John Bolton, launched a scathing attack on the United Nations Friday.
Bolton was furious over the adoption by the General Assembly of a resolution which said the assembly regretted the deaths of 19 civilians in an attack by the Israeli military in the town of Beit Hanoun last week.
"Many of the sponsors of that resolution are notorious abusers of human rights themselves, and were seeking to deflect criticism of their own policies," he said. "This type of resolution serves only to exacerbate tensions by serving the interests of elements hostile to Israel's inalienable and recognized right to exist."
"This deepens suspicions about the United Nations that will lead many to conclude that the organization is incapable of playing a helpful role in the region,"
Bolton continued. "In a larger sense, the United Nations must confront a more significant question, that of its relevance and utility in confronting the challenges of the 21st century. We believe that the United Nations is ill served when its members seek to transform the organization into a forum that is a little more than a self-serving and a polemical attack against Israel or the United States," he said. "Meanwhile, it has failed to address real human rights abuses in Burma, Darfur, the DPRK, and other countries," Bolton charged.
The United States, and Australia joined Israel in voting against the motion, together with four small Pacific island nations. All countries in Europe, including Britain, voted to support the resolution.

Bolton gets it. Bolton calls a spade a spade. Bolton supports Israel. Democrats won't support Bolton. American Jews vote for Democrats.
I don't get that.

Is there anything more satisfying than being right? ...OK, but besides that?
I've written before about how Evangelical Christians are the most caring and generous people in this country... And now an economist agrees.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse University professor Arthur C. Brooks is about to become the darling of the religious right in America -- and it's making him nervous.
The child of academics, raised in a liberal household and educated in the liberal arts, Brooks has written a book that concludes religious conservatives donate far more money than secular liberals to all sorts of charitable activities, irrespective of income. In the book, he cites extensive data analysis to demonstrate that values advocated by conservatives -- from church attendance and two-parent families to the Protestant work ethic and a distaste for government-funded social services -- make conservatives more generous than liberals.
The book, titled "Who Really Cares: The Surprising Truth About Compassionate Conservatism" (Basic Books, $26), is due for release Nov. 24.
The book's basic findings are that conservatives who practice religion, live in traditional nuclear families and reject the notion that the government should engage in income redistribution are the most generous Americans, by any measure.
Conversely, secular liberals who believe fervently in government entitlement programs give far less to charity. They want everyone's tax dollars to support charitable causes and are reluctant to write checks to those causes, even when governments don't provide them with enough money... he says it forcefully, pointing out that liberals give less than conservatives in every way imaginable, including volunteer hours and donated blood.
His main finding is quite startling, that the people who talk the most about caring actually fork over the least.
http://www.beliefnet.com/story/204/story_20419_1.html
"People who talk the most..." Liberals talk a good game. They effortlessly claim the moral high ground for themselves... with words, catch-phrases, and sound bites that fall noble on the ear and stir our innermost desires for justice and equality. Their kind and politically correct words have been duping the masses for decades.
We Evangelical Christians are as hypocritical, spoiled, and hedonistic as the next rich American, but we should never fall prey to the fable that we are somehow callous and less caring than the secular liberals. It seems that liberal charity is limited to a generosity of words.

From coast to coast before the election we heard from "moderate" Democrats about how we needed a change - and no sir, they were not liberals. Meanwhile, the liberal nuts who own the Democrat Party were silently hiding... biding their time...
Well here is a little message for all the Independents who voted for Moderate Dems, and for all the Conservatives who pouted at home on election day: The nuts are back out.
Barbara Boxer is taking over the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee and is already planning her hearings on global warming. Don't expect expanded drilling for oil and cheaper gas prices anytime soon. Do expect more environmental regulations and higher prices for automobiles - and maybe an SUV tax.
When Democrat Representative Bennie Thompson takes over the House Homeland Security Committee, he plans to revisit the law mandating 700 miles of fence along the U.S.-Mexico border. Interpretation: The border is open for business...
The gay lobby is now more powerful than it has ever been before - now that Ms. Pelosi runs the House of Representatives. Get ready to hear about hate-speech laws and their effects on tax-exempt status... Stuff like that.
John Conyers will chair the House Judiciary Committee, and though Dems have said that Bush will not be impeached, Conyers will not be able to resist hearings into the possibility. He also owes the growing Muslim population back in Michigan - and who knows where that will lead.
House Ways and Means- Charles Rangel - enough said. Kiss tax cuts and the economy good-bye and get ready for the mainstream media to blame it on Bush.
Committee on Government Reform – Henry Waxman - During the Clinton era, it was Henry’s job as ranking Democrat on the Government Reform committee to obstruct Republicans’ investigations in the scandal-ridden Clinton Administration - but now he promises to open up investigations on a number of fronts targeting the Bush Administration. That's nice.
I'm not sure my friends in Kokomo, who sent a moderate Democrat to Washington, realize that they also voted for Pelosi, Reid, and their band of big-government-Leftist nuts. I'm not sure they intended to empower people who in no way share their values. But they foolishly did.
All those moderate Dems in Washington... with no power.

Last Sunday my Sunday School Teacher, an early-retired United Auto Worker, told us how he had met a Hispanic Preacher who wanted to start training and educating local Hispanic People - to become Preachers in Indiana and to start new Hispanic churches - and how he wanted to develop a curriculum in Spanish to accomplish this. My Sunday School Teacher thought our church could look into financing this. (I think you know where this is headed?)
At the time I said nothing. If I had, perhaps the conversation would have gone something like this:
Malott: Uh, I have a problem with this... I mean, if you want to start a Bible College in Mexico, I'm right there with you. But when we start providing non-English help to non-English-speaking people in this country, we will likely be working with undocumented people and contributing to the illegals' infrastructure... and I'm opposed to that.
Sunday School Teacher: Yes, but they're already here and this is a Christian Outreach that...
Malott: interrupting...But we will be treading closely to the territory of the radical priest or the politically-liberal Mennonite who actively supports illegal activity by facilitating illegal immigration - And then when the illegal shows up at the hospital where I work and rips-off a system into which he doesn't pay - ultimately effecting my income - I've noticed that the Mennonite never shows up to pay the bill. Come to think of it, he doesn't pay for the Illegal's children's education, either. Or anything else...
SST: I think someone needs to work on his Christian attitude...
Malott: face reddening... I'll try to develop the Christian attitude of the United Auto Worker when GM or Chrysler relocates a plant among the poor people of Mexico...
SST: interrupting...Now I think that is an entirely different thing...
Malott: I expect you would!
Now, wasn't I wise to keep my mouth shut?

With the Democratic victory in the midterm elections, one big winner was the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR). The American Islamic pressure group now has a chance to advance its agenda in numerous ways, with energetic water-carrying by, among others, the Speaker of the House, the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee...
Nancy Pelosi, D-CA, who is likely to be the next House Speaker, has announced her intention to “correct the Patriot Act” and wants to criminalize scrutiny of Muslims at airports and elsewhere: “Since September 11, many Muslim Americans have been subjected to searches at airports and other locations based upon their religion and national origin. We must make it illegal.” Since religion is the one factor that the jihadists themselves invariably point to as the motivation for their violent actions, Pelosi is calling upon investigators to ignore the single most important key to understanding jihadist strategy and goals.
Helping pass such a law will be John Conyers, D-MI, the probable new chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. “The policies of the Bush administration,” he has declared, “have sent a wave of fear through our immigrant communities and targeted our Arab and Muslim neighbors.”
Conyers has also masterminded House Resolution 288, which condemns “religious intolerance” but clearly singles out Islam as needing special protection from such criticism. It states that “it should never be official policy of the United States Government to disparage the Quran, Islam, or any religion in any way, shape, or form...”
http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=25448
Nothing scary or radical here, surely... Just the probable first steps toward granting the United States the same problems that France now enjoys.
We can only hope that Conyers is distracted from doing the bidding of Radical Islam - by his concentration on investigating President Bush for possible impeachment.

If you can't make it at a real college... then try Ball State.
I always thought it was embarrassing enough that a school of Ball State's "stature" was located in my state and was actually allowed to hand out diplomas. Now I find out that this deservedly little known teacher's college is a den not only of left wing radicals, but stupid ones. Then again, why would Ball State attract smart people of any stripe?
Conservative activist David Horowitz got a 50-foot "not welcome" sign, 15 cheese pizzas and nearly a cream pie in the face before speaking at Ball State University about political agendas of professors Wednesday night.
Two women were arrested by university police near the Teachers College in connection with the pie-throwing incident, but the identity of the pizza pranksters remains a mystery.
http://www.bsudailynews.com/home/index.cfm?event=displayArticle&uStory_id=523d0401-a0e1-4eb9-920c-5b63bc75a8af
What clever students, these. I guess the short-sheeting of Horowitz's bed wasn't deemed newsworthy.
This is the Left at its most transparent. Don't attempt debate. Don't submit a different opinion. Else the Ideological Fascists of the Tolerant Left will trump you with their sophisticated response... A pie in the face.
The article I read featured the mug shots of the two girls who were arrested. To me, their pictures seemed to scream out, "Hold me!" No doubt too few hugs from Daddy.
I may take it upon myself to pen a few words of advice to these young felons. I might suggest that the right man might straighten out their lives and give them meaning and purpose. One day they might look me up and thank me.

Al-Qaida in Iraq claimed in a new audio tape Friday to be winning the war faster than expected in Iraq and said it had mobilized 12,000 fighters who had "vowed to die for God's sake."
On the audio tape made available on militant Web sites, the al-Qaida in Iraq leader also welcomed the Republican electoral defeat that led to the departure of Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld. He added that the group's fighters would not rest until they had blown up the White House.
http://www.breitbart.com/news/2006/11/10/D8LAC4OG1.html
Encouraged by election results that went their way, the enemy seems totally incapable of grasping the fact that the American people voted last Tuesday and decided that "we don't want to fight anymore! We're tired of all this fighting! Now stop it! Quit saying mean things to us! Come on, you guys!"
This latest audio may illustrate to all those pathetic dreamers who voted to make our government more "French"- that we are in a world war - and no matter what jokes Jon Stewart makes about Republicans - no matter how stupid President Bush is - we will fight this war, or we will lose this war.
Let me make a prediction. A worthless prediction... but hey!
On Tuesday Radical Islam was given an incredible gift by the American people. Moderate Muslims' IQ - Intimidation Quotient- skyrocketed. The American "paper tiger" image was enhanced in a big way. So???
Step by step we will lose this global war until America (or maybe Israel) steps up and starts fighting World War II style. By that I mean using every weapon in our arsenal - regardless of world opinion - regardless of women and children - carpet bombing or yes, nuking Fallugias and other trouble spots until the enemy relents or is dead. Every country that has Islamo-Crazies marching around threatening us - they're all in our cross hairs. Our message: Get control of these nuts, or we'll send your culture back to the 19th century.
The question is, how bad will it have to get before we elect a leader that would rather kill a few million nut-jobs, rather than lose another American soldier in vain? And will it be too late?

And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. Matthew 26:39 KJV
A great many Christians in this country start their day on their knees praying a similar prayer concerning Radical Islam. They see what is happening in Europe and they consider the worldwide birth rates among Muslims - and they wonder just what could stem the oncoming inevitability. They cling to the notion that America is blessed by God and that this Christian Nation would never be forsaken by the Almighty. After all, the Christians in this country support Christian Missions throughout the world and are surely the last hope for the message of Christ. They feel entitled to the freedom to worship and the comfortable lifestyle they have come to take for granted.
It's pretty to think that we are immune from persecution because of our token monetary and personal expenditures towards the Kingdom, but I believe certain facts dowse such confidences.
How many babies has America aborted? Has this rich country instilled sufficient materialism to poison its future, to taint what's left of its values - producing a culture bereft of decency and moral resolve?
And the Church? Moody Radio estimates that 50% of American males and 20% of the females in the Church are addicted to pornography on the internet and via other sources.
Is it indicative of our lukewarm faith that most American church-goers are better equipped intellectually to quote Seinfeld episodes than scripture? And what percentage of the world's richest Christians actually tithe? Even if we believe that God awards protection to faithful countries and peoples - we hardly rate His intervention.
I believe that God will mold and structure worldwide events in such a way that will bring glory to Him. In the spiritual realm, the Principalities of Good and Darkness pay attention to more salient realities than our little sense of justice - our perceived notion of entitlement - and glean more spiritual gravitas from a persecuted huddling of believers in Iran, or a tormented Christian in China, than all the comfortable praise elicited for 60 minutes every week in American Churches.
The "blood of the martyrs" has always been the essence, the nourishment of Faith and Evangelism - sustaining a God-Ordained movement that transcends cultures and countries. Rich and distracted American Christians might be wise to consider how their spiritual pittance weighs against a greater Glory that might weigh upon their future.
Radical Islam may be the Cross that separates "the sheep from the goats" and distinguishes the Holy Vestiges from the Lukewarm Enclaves of traditionalist sopophiles. We may pray that this cup passes, but that may not be the plan.
"Embracing the Cross" may become for the American Church a more defining and unpleasant exercise than the ritual mumblings of a spoiled and forgetful flock.
WASHINGTON (Nov. 10) - John Bolton's prospects for staying on as U.N. ambassador essentially died Thursday as Democrats and a pivotal Republican said they would continue to oppose his nomination.
You see, this is so simple to me. It's a no-brainer. President Bush should very quietly call John Bolton back from New York - and have absolutely nothing to do with the United Nations.
What difference does it make anyway?
And here are the results among AOL users:
Hillary Clinton 30%
Barack Obama 25%
Other 21%
John Edwards 6%
Al Gore 5%
Joe Biden 3%
Wesley Clark 3%
Bill Richardson 3%
Evan Bayh 2%
John Kerry 2%
Tom Vilsack 1%
Total Votes: 378,925
What I find significant here is how many votes "Other" got. And it's good to see that Kerry remains popular. No one knows anything about Barack Obama, but unfortunately for his chances, he can't sustain that.
Rudy Giuliani 38%
John McCain 24%
Other 12%
Condoleezza Rice 10%
Jeb Bush 5%
Newt Gingrich 4%
Mitt Romney 3%
Chuck Hagel 1%
Bill Frist 1%
Mike Huckabee 1%
Duncan Hunter 0%
Total Votes: 338,968
The only Republican here that can effectively convey conservative ideas is Gingrich. No chance. John McCain has more friends among Democrats than Republicans. No chance. Giuliani? Only if he can do it without the Evangelical vote. Romney? Too Mormon.
How did Duncan Hunter end up with zero %? They should have at least listed it as <1%. Yes, that would have been kinder.

Well after all that wishful thinking on the part of conservative pundits and bloggers, the truth arrived in an embarrassing thumping. As it turns out, the United States citizenry resembles Nancy Pelosi more than it resembles Rick Santorum. Conservatives are much more in the minority than we thought, and the Party we looked to... to bravely carry our message forth... turned out to be top-heavy with feckless, self-serving politicians.
Yesterday the spirit of Neville Chamberlain moved across the face of the deep as Americans chose peace rather than war... a truly odd choice in a world where peace is not an option... But choose they did.
In a couple days I will be ready to look ahead, to listen to our Hugh Hewitts and Michelle Malkins tell us how this is really going to turn out to be a blessing! But not today. Today I think it is important to be realistic and embrace this terrible fall - this defeat - this tragedy - for what it is. America took a step parallel to its emerging nature yesterday... A very dangerous step in the wrong direction.
In a couple days I will start considering what all this means for Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, and Newt Gingrich.
But not today.

I arrived at the high school at 6:00 AM- sharp - and heard the "hear ye, hear ye, the polls are now open." There were enough people from my town of about 2,000 who had braved the cold wet weather - to make me wait in line a full 30 seconds before I was able to proceed. I pulled out my driver's license with my photo and picked up my paper ballot.
There is something comforting and "homey" about voting in a small town. I saw the same poll workers I see every election... especially the four sisters - Norma Jean, Sue Ellen, Milda, and Myra Sue.
Milda lost her son in a plane crash about ten years ago. He was a good friend of mine in high school.
Four years ago, when I moved back home and voted the first time, Milda came up to me and hugged me and held my face in her hands. The look she gave me, I'm sure, was full of memories of her boy. It made me want to stand up straight - watch my language - and be a better man than I probably am.
Small town accountability.
The Democrats gerrymandered us into a pretty inconsequential ballot, but our turn-out will still be much better than the national average. Voting is a social event - and it feels good.
The school smelled the same.
O God, do not keep silent;
be not quiet, O God, be not still.
See how your enemies are astir,
how your foes rear their heads.
With cunning they conspire against your people;
they plot against those you cherish.
"Come," they say, "let us destroy them as a nation,
that the name of Israel be remembered no more."
With one mind they plot together;
they form an alliance against you-
Make them like tumbleweed, O my God,
like chaff before the wind.
Psalm 83:1-5,13
Vote.

Last night I watched snippets of The Simpsons, American Dad, and Family Guy. All three took pre-election potshots at Republicans.
Simpsons: War in Iraq
American Dad: Republicans hate gays.
Family Guy: Military recruiting and Iraq.
When exactly did the Leftists in this country get their strangle-hold on the popular culture? Granted, only stupid people are going to allow a cartoon to influence their vote, but we have a great many stupid, irresponsible, and hedonistic people in our country. And I believe these kind of shows are playing a big part in rearing a new generation of Liberals.
Hollywood. The "big one" would be a tragedy fraught with benefits.
Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when men succeed in their ways,
when they carry out their wicked schemes.
Refrain from anger and turn from wrath;
do not fret—it leads only to evil.
Psalm 37:7,8
There. Relax. The only really important contest has already been decided.
The change in the wind that favors the Republicans has five possible explanations:
a.) the pollsters consistently underweighted GOP turnout and are scrambling to avoid being Zogbied.
b.) GOP faithful and center-right independents are unhappy with President Bush and the Congress for a number of reasons (tin-eared non-responsiveness on the border, spend, and one I'll discuss at length on Wednesday) and told pollsters, bit have now relented as they realize that no matter what the problem is, the answer can't be more Democrats.
c.) John Kerry reminded Americans of the left's contempt for the military specifically as well as its fecklessness on matters of national security generally, and voters want to stay alive. "Any vote for any Democrat is a vote against victory and a vote for vulnerability" is a concise summary of a broad truth.
d.) The Rove-Mehlman GOTV machine is rolling out, powered by polite volunteers who understand the need to persuade not merely berate. You can help here on Monday and Tuesday --from the comfort of your own home.
e.) A lot of each, but especially "c" and "d."
Whatever the reason, the optimism among Republicans about their improving prospects is as real as the GOP's momentum. Both houses of Congress could go either way, but Democrats are beginning to understand what it meant to a Browns fan to hear, "Elway in the shotgun as the clock begins to tick down..."
http://hughhewitt.townhall.com/
My gut tells me that much of this is "cheerleading" in an effort to get out the vote among Republican's who are no doubt discouraged by the endless polls and negativity provided by the MSM. We will see.

Mother Teresa Found To Be A Prostitute
ABC News has learned that famed conservative Christian, Mother Teresa, led a double life while ministering to the poor in India. Born Agnesa Gonxha Bojaxhiu August 27, 1910, the celebrated conservative Christian was an Albanian Roman Catholic nun who founded the Missionaries of Charity in India. Her work among the poverty-stricken of Kolkata (Calcutta) made her one of the world's most famous conservative Christians.
However it has been learned that the conservative Christian Nun also sold her body on weekends when she went by the name "Kitty."
The Bush administration, along with many Republican leaders in Congress have denied any knowledge of the conservative Christian Nun's indiscretions. It is still unclear how much influence the conservative Christian Nun had on the Bush administration since she died in 1997.
Polling suggests that this - yet another another indication that the Republicans are out of control - will have a dire effect on the GOP's hopes to retain their strangle-hold on power after the mid-term elections.

I believe it's possible to be terribly ill or crippled - and be wrong.
I believe it's possible to lose limbs fighting for your country, earn medals for valor, even spend time as a prisoner of war - and still not know what is best for your country.
I believe it's possible to be black, handsome, well educated, fashionable - and still not know the best direction in which to lead your country.
I believe it's possible to be famous, talented, celebrated, clever, funny - and still not have a clue as to what is going on in the world.
I believe it's possible to rise to the heights of the journalistic profession, garner praise and respect - and yet be a biased disingenuous liar.
I believe it's possible to have an incredible mind, a stellar IQ - and still not be wise enough to recognize your Creator.
I believe it's possible to spend billions upon billions of dollars on the poor and their plight - and ultimately destroy their character, their families, and leave their lives incalculably worse.
I believe it's possible to have incredible political instincts, to think quickly on your feet, to have a clever answer for every challenge - and yet be wrong 100% of the time.
It's possible.
What is wrong with me? I just can't get enough of these before and after pictures... watching these lovely little next-door maidens (They could be maidens!) be transformed with a little paint and putty into glamorous tarts.
But I really think that this is a kind of anomaly - that it only works on a very few women. I have had more than one friend that has had a glamour make-over and came out looking like... well... at best -silly... at worst - a prostitute.
But I'm still facinated by these pictures. Maybe I just like looking at women.

A disgusting display. This is the kind of tasteless and vulgar behavior that we've come to expect from the feline world. Unlike dogs, who patiently and graciously wait by the door until they can attend to their business outside, cats demand a smelly, hygenically unsound box of dirt inside the home, in which to tender their dooky. Fouling the very domicile that the doting and ignorant cat owner provides, these felines seem to express no gratitude, but rather disdain for the tasteless simpletons who inexplicably choose feed and care for them.
The entire staff at Malott's Blog sincerely believe that laws should be passed, limiting the breeding and housing of cats to only those numbers necessary for medical experiments.
Thank you.

While stumping for local Dems in California Kerry stated,
"You know education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. And if you don't, you get stuck in Iraq."
The National Commander of The American Legion called on Sen. John Kerry to apologize for suggesting that American troops in Iraq are uneducated.
"As a constituent of Senator Kerry's I am disappointed. As leader of The American Legion, I am outraged," said National Commander Paul A. Morin. "A generation ago, Sen. Kerry slandered his comrades in Vietnam by saying that they were rapists and murderers. It wasn't true then and his warped view of today's heroes isn't true now."
http://www.breitbart.com/news/2006/10/31/204-10312006.html
"I believe Sen. Kerry owes an apology to many thousands of Americans serving in Iraq, who answered their country's call," said Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., campaigning in Indiana.
A Democratic congressman told ABC News Tuesday, "I guess Kerry wasn't content blowing 2004, now he wants to blow 2006, too."
http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/story?id=2619383&page=2
Kerry does blow.
But like other Democrats - among them a former president - Kerry loathes the military. He believes the military is for losers. The military is for those who have no other options. Kerry trashed our soldiers when he came back from Vietnam, and he is still trashing them today.
That's why he represents the Democrat Party so well.
Update: "I called them Smart before I called them Stupid." John Kerry

Malott Gets DSL
This past week Malott finally "got around to" switching from AOL Dial-Up to ATT DSL-Pro.
Amazingly, he was able to install it himself.
What does this mean for Malott's Blog?
Practically nothing.
However with dial-up, Malott was unable to post pictures on his blog at home, and had to take his camera to work and load them there.
The entire staff at Malott's Blog wishes to apologize in advance for what we fear will be an endless parade of self portraits and other forms of self promotion indicative of the pathetic craving for attention and transparent narcissism which has plagued this blog from its inception.
Thank you.

The battle is currently in Iraq. Where do you want to fight it?
Mark Steyn writes:
...it's not the end of history; it's the end of the world as we know it. Whether we like what replaces it depends on whether America can summon the will to shape at least part of the emerging world. If not, then it's also the end of the American moment, and the dawn of the new Dark Ages (if darkness can dawn): a planet on which much of the map is re-primitivized.
Now we switch on the news every evening and, though there are many trouble spots around the world, as a general rule it's easy to make an educated guess at one of the participants: Muslims vs. Jews in "Palestine," Muslims vs. Hindus in Kashmir, Muslims vs. Christians in Africa, Muslims vs. Buddhists in Thailand, Muslims vs. Russians in the Caucasus, Muslims vs. backpacking tourists in Bali, Muslims vs. Danish cartoonists in Scandinavia.

We take for granted our wonderful laws and legal system that protect the weak and innocent - but you need look no further than the Middle East to see what happens when laws crumble and evil rules the day. Physical, Spiritual, Emotional, and Sexual Domination by the Strong, Ruthless, and Cruel pervades these sad cultures.
Will the new Iraqi government have to meet the militias, insurgents, and terrorists with the same brand of ruthlessness if they are to restore order? Will our civilized approach to war be enough to stay the approaching jihadist juggernaut?
Historically, freedom is an aberation among human civilizations. Hopefully when the Europeans lose theirs - America will wake up. The fact that the cut-and-run Democrats have a chance to gain majorities in both houses of Congress - confirms that for now, we sleep.

After working the weekend, I had Monday "off", and listened to the Rush Limbaugh Show. I was listening when he made the infamous comments about Michael J Fox - that he was either "off his medication" - or he was "acting" in the Democrat add about embryonic stem cell research that was played during the World Series.
I knew immediately that Limbaugh's words would come back to haunt him... And evidently he did too, because he spent the rest of the show first apologizing and then justifying his comments.
My take?
Well, now that Mr Fox has turned his disease into a weapon to be used against my Party - and mislead the gullible, I have very little sympathy for Mr Fox. After all, he is obviously first and foremost a Democrat, and we know how these people suffer with their lack of integrity. We've seen these people in action and we know that the end always justifies the means - no matter how disingenuous.
I know Parkinson's is a terrible disease and I doubt that Mr Fox was faking his movements. But my point is: How would we know?
When you place little value on honor and truth, and are focused only on regaining power, regardless of the means employed - your speech and actions must be questioned - and your outrage and self-righteous indignation have a tinny and shallow ring to them.
Mr Fox, I do feel sorry for you. But now that I know you've aligned yourself with Democrats, I neither respect or trust you. You value your health more than you value innocent human life, and so I'm not surprised that you would sink so low as to use pity as a political tool.

1,500 cruise ship passengers without toilets for 'three days'
Around 1,450 passengers on a luxury cruise ship have been left without toilets for three days, according to people on board.
A series of blockages in the plumbing system is said to have led to "mayhem" on board Thomson's Destiny cruise ship.
Tour operator Thomson admitted that there have been problems with the vacuum system of the toilets, but said it was bringing in a team of "super-technicians" to fix the system overnight.
Now there is a job I'd like. "Super Toilet Technician." Where do you go to school for that? And, just what is the school's mascot?
Mrs Twigg, 51, said Destiny had been without toilets for three days and hot water for at least 24 hours.
She said there was "mayhem" on board the ship, which is full, and a protest meeting was being held by passengers.
http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/article-23371855-details/1,500+cruise+ship+passengers+without+toilets+for+
No chamber pots on board? And I have to wonder if the problem has dampened the passengers' enthusiasm for the all-you-can-eat buffets? I wonder, if when the announcement comes that the toitees are fixed, will the rush to make dookey overwhelm the system once again? And who is the guy that clogged the system in the first place? I'd like to meet him. I'd like to shake his hand.
Have you ever wondered why Israel prospers while those around them flounder?
Gaza's greenhouses in Jewish hands.

Gaza's greenhouses in Palestinian hands.

In September of 2005 they descended like locusts on Gush Katif, pillaged and destroyed what took a generation to build. One year later, the desert that bloomed is a barren wasteland, ravaged by palestinians who know nothing, care for nothing, and think of nothing except death and destruction.

With Democrats seen as soft on terrorism - With many Democrats saying that there is no war - the Mainstream Media is doing a swell job at hiding WWIII.
I do not share their agenda.
On Sunday, a band of about 30 youths, some wearing masks, forced passengers out of a bus in a southern Paris suburb in broad daylight Sunday, set it on fire, then stoned firefighters who came to the rescue, police said. No one was injured. Two people were arrested, one of them a 13-year-old, according to LCI television.
In France, a high school teacher received death threats, forcing him into hiding, after he wrote a newspaper editorial in September saying Muslim fundamentalists are trying to muzzle Europe's democratic liberties.
On a routine call, three unwitting police officers fell into a trap. A car darted out to block their path, and dozens of hooded youths surged out of the darkness to attack them with stones, bats and tear gas before fleeing. One officer was hospitalized, and no arrests made.
The recent ambush was emblematic of what some officers say has become a near-perpetual and increasingly violent conflict between police and gangs in tough, largely immigrant French neighborhoods that were the scene of a three-week paroxysm of rioting last year.
Michel Thooris, head of the small Action Police union, claims that the new violence is taking on an Islamic fundamentalist tinge.
Oh really?
"Many youths, many arsonists, many vandals behind the violence do it to cries of 'Allah Akbar' (God is Great) when our police cars are stoned," he said in an interview.

Where do the Dems stand on all of this?
IOWA CITY,Iowa --Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn., said he regretted being talked out of filibustering tough new tribunal legislation signed by president Bush on Tuesday, and plans to seek new legislation to overturn portions of the bill.
"It's a major, major retreat for us as a people," Dodd said during a visit to Iowa on Tuesday afternoon. "
The measure signed by Bush sets up military tribunals to try terror suspects and allows the introduction of evidence obtained through tough interrogation procedures.
http://www.boston.com/news/local/connecticut/articles/2006/10/17/dodd_regrets_not_filibustering_terrorism_bill/
The Dems want to protect the rights of terrorists. They join the ACLU and other liberal organizations in their efforts to drag the United States towards the same Multiculturalism that is destroying Europe - and seem determined not to quit until we become "Ameristan."
But you won't hear about all this from the Mainstream Media. It's election time.

From Hugh Hewitt's blog page:
My theory on this is that Republicans are serious adult citizens, Democrats and Independents are not. Republicans by and large take their citizenship seriously, inform themselves and vote accordingly. The rest of the population doesn’t even register to vote, or only vote when they are sufficiently ginned up, or when they are herded on busses to the polls. They base their opinions on chanted slogans or newspaper headlines, and take their responsibility to vote about as serious as all their other responsibilities as citizens.
Come November 7, I am confident (as is Karl Rove) that more serious adults will show up at the polls than Democrats. All our election experience tells us that 2006 will be a status quo election, a small number of seats gained in the House by the Democrats, and a small number of seats gained in the Senate by the Republicans. The ONLY evidence offered of this “Blue Wave” that will supposedly change the course of history are these aforementioned polls, which we KNOW are faulty and biased.
http://hughhewitt.townhall.com/
I wouldn't bet my left leg that Hewitt is right about the outcome of next month's election, but I love the way he characterizes the Democrat voter because - well - he agrees with me.
Have I written on this humble blog that Democrat voters are less informed and more focused on the fashionable and "pop" political culture? Oh yes... Yes I have.
But somehow it means more when someone with a smidgen of credibility says it.
A suicide note in the pocket of a man who jumped off the Omni Royal Orleans Hotel late Tuesday led police to the grisly scene of his girlfriend’s murder, where they found her charred head in a pot on the stove, her legs and feet baked in the oven and the rest of her dismembered body in trash bag in the refrigerator, according to police and the couple’s landlord.

Reads like a bedtime story, doesn't it? It makes me glad that we're spending billions of dollars so that New Orleans can survive - and people can live below sea level and provide a place where drunks can go and be serviced by prostitutes - and men can saute' their girlfriends.
Ladies, I guess the moral is: If you go to New Orleans and you meet a man there who tells you that you look good enough to eat...

Oh excuse me... Progressive Talk Radio. The word liberal, which best describes such drivel, is a losing term which must be avoided.
Air America has filed for bankruptcy, but another liberal radio network appears poised to see if the concept can work if done with others in charge.
Nova M Radio, Inc. based in Phoenix, Arizona officially announced the formation of its new progressive talk radio network, which will feature former Air America host Mike Malloy as one of its on-air personalities. The network is scheduled to debut October 30, just prior to the November elections.
http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2006/10/17/172353.shtml?s=ic
And I will predict that the network will close down immediately after the election.
Liberalism hasn't nearly the following that conservatism has. Democrat politicians embrace liberalism when it's time to vote on bills, but run from the word on the campaign trail. Hence the clever "Progressive" mislabeling.
Democrats can be clever, fashionable and many other popular things...But their political beliefs - socialism - military weakness - and an anti-American kind of pseudo-patriotism... all these are losers.
...and no one wants to listen.

BOSTON (AP) - Former Rep. Gerry Studds, who became the first openly gay member of Congress when his homosexuality was exposed during a teenage page sex scandal, died early Saturday. He was 69.
Studds died at Boston Medical Center several days after he collapsed while walking his dog, his husband said. Doctors determined his loss of consciousness was due to a blood clot in his lung, Dean Hara said.
http://apnews.myway.com/article/20061014/D8KOI2600.html
I'm not writing this to condemn Mr. Studds - I figure a man who dies with a husband has already done that himself - but I think his situation and the way it was handled by the Dems shines a harsh light on the Democrat's hypocritical stance surrounding the Mark Foley situation, and the Dem's accusations that the Republicans have a morality problem.
In an effort to separate the Republicans from their Evangelical voters, Democrats both in politics and the media have run the Foley story into the ground with wall to wall coverage. This kind of moral outrage was lacking in the Studds case, which involved activity far beyond emails.
And of course last night's 60 minutes featured David Kuo, an Evangelical that worked in the current Administration, who says the religious Right is laughed at in the White House and Christians are being used - that "God and politics had become very much fused together into a sort of a single entity. Where, in a way, politics was the fourth part of the trinity. God the father, God the son, God the holy spirit, God the politician..."
Kuo said, "I think that Christians, particularly evangelical Christians need to take a step back. To have a fast from politics... People are being manipulated."
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/10/14/60minutes/main2089778_page3.shtml
Yes, David. People are being manipulated. And the manipulators want the Religious Right to sit-out this election so that Democrats can take control of Congress.
So the Democrats fear us and the Country Club Republicans laugh at us... I don't care! I'll figure out which candidate is more likely to vote the way I want, and I'll arrive at the polls early on election day.
Oh, and I won't forget that the Democrats gave a pass to... and today are eulogizing a Congressman who sodomized a boy.

Skyepuppy has a wonderful post about how the Nobel Prize people got it right this year. She also has a link to former Prize winners, but go there at your own risk - you risk outrage and nausea.
http://skyepuppy.blogspot.com/2006/10/microcredit-lender-wins-nobel-peace.html
You'd think that you'd find Jesus on the list - some sort of lifetime achievement award, but no. However, the list of former winners contains Mother Theresa, who wouldn't be there but for Jesus. And looking at the list you might wonder how many of these lives and accomplishments were inspired by that guy that changed the world when he did that sermon-on-the-mount thing.
In my perfect world, Jesus would get the Nobel Prize - nowhere in the announcement would you find the word "posthumously" - and flying to Europe to accept the award for Jesus would be some "street preacher" who works with drunks and crack whores when he isn't manning the grill at Wendy's. Yes, that sounds about right.

So CNN's Headline News must be looking for better ratings?
Last night I heard Glenn Beck give the best step by step analysis and proof of bias and outright campaigning on the part of the media for Democrats. And I had to hear it on CNN Headline News?
If you love Sean (Shawn?) Hannity but you hate listening to pundits rudely interrupt each other, flip the dial over a few clicks and check out Glenn Beck. This is from last night:
Now I'm going to rattle off some numbers that you will and won`t be hearing a lot about as the election season enters its final few weeks.
Because we are getting close to an election, half of the real news is being intentionally withheld from you...
The first number is 655,000; you probably read about it today or heard about it on the radio. It is the number of Iraqi civilians that have been killed since the war began. No, I don`t consider it a credible report. Neither does General Casey, and neither do Iraq officials.
It was a number taken from a study, published Thursday on the web site of "The Lancet". Forget that it was based on a survey of households in Iraq, not a body count. Basically, they went door-to-door and said, "Bring out your dead."
Let`s just assume that number is true. This leads us right into the second number I gave you a couple of minutes ago, 69. Sixty-nine is the percentage of the 655,000 Iraqi civilians who did not die at the hands of American soldiers. That leaves 451,950 Iraqis who were killed by someone else other than Americans. Gee, who else is killing people over there? This number leads me to believe that the Iraqis would be saying, "Good God, Americans, please don`t leave us now. We`re surrounded by people trying to kill us."
The third number, 11,687, that is the number the Dow Jones closed at yesterday. That number is the highest ever, and the fourth time the Dow broke the all-time high in the last two weeks. Don`t you always hear people saying, "People vote with their pocketbooks" or my favorite, "It`s the economy, stupid." Well, how come nobody`s saying that this time around, with the election only weeks away? What a surprise.
The fourth number, 248 billion, that`s the one you will be hearing a lot about. That is our budget deficit, $248 billion. What you won`t be hearing is the number 22.3. Our budget deficit has actually shrunk by 22.3 percent since last year. Well, how is that possible?
Well, more numbers you`re not going to hear about. Revenues are at an all-time high, which means that, by cutting taxes, we`ve actually grown the economy and are getting more tax revenue. Gee, I was told by the liberals in the media that that sort of thing just doesn`t happen. Well, it just has, America. The reason you`re not hearing it is because the liberal left would then have to accept this as fact, and then they`d have to shift their argument. They`d have to tell you what they really have been trying to do the whole time. They would no longer be able to say, "We can`t afford these tax cuts" because we can, clearly. They`d have to make the case for their real plan, redistributing wealth. That`s what they really want to do. Go ahead, make the argument for that. But they can`t, because they`d have to say things like, well, it`s for social programs. But socialism isn`t a real destination. Socialism is a middle step between capitalism and communism. Look it up in the dictionary. I did. It will blow your mind. Good luck selling that to the American people.
This all leads me to a question: is the media truly not biased, or does it have an agenda? I`ve got to say, it seems like the agenda thing is working right now. Four weeks before an election, why else would you have to go to a yahoo like me to get the real story behind these numbers?
So here`s what I know tonight: numbers are an amazing game. To say that we have caused 655,000 deaths in Iraq, wow, that`s like saying Americans killed 10 million people in World War II, even though six million of those died in concentration camps at the hands of Adolph Hitler. I also know the economy is in fine shape. Why is it that when the economy is weak, it`s all you hear about? But when it`s strong, like it is now, oh, it`s invisible, especially when a Republican`s in charge? You remember when the Dow was breaking all the records when Bill Clinton was in charge? That`s all they could talk about. Now they say that good news doesn`t sell. I say, bull crap. Good news just doesn`t sell some people`s agenda.
http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0610/11/gb.01.html
Wow. How come FOX News, which liberals would tell you is an arm of the Republican Party - How come FOX News doesn't give a guy like this a microphone and 15 minutes to state his case? Oh, maybe FOX really is fair and balanced and the libs just can't stand hearing the other side aired.
Anyway, check this guy out. I believe it's 9 PM Eastern - Headline News.

Got Carrots?
Now I have never been one to boast or brag about my truly incredible gardening skills. No, that kind self-promotion is for losers who have no life - who sit around at home every Saturday night watching TV and playing computer games - eating frozen dinners - knowing that it's the women who are the real losers here, and I could get a date any time I really... Oh... Excuse me.
Anyway, though some may define greatness by the abundance miraculously brought forth from a small plot of ground - and some may sit in stunned silence as they try to grasp the majesty of the horticultural arts - I let such accolades and praise run off my back like so much rainwater. I tend to remain silent - restrained by my boundless humility. It's just the way I am.
I started harvesting my carrots last night. I should get a total of at least 100 pounds from my raised beds. They keep incredibly well in humid-drawers and my family and I shouldn't have to buy carrots until next summer.

Will the agenda of the House of Representatives soon reflect the morals, the dubious defense posture, the anti-war stance, and the liberal politics of the voters of San Francisco?
Pelosi voted against the reauthorization of the Patriot Act. She also vigorously opposed Congress’ establishment of procedures to govern custody and interrogation of detainees and the military tribunals to try them... It is no surprise, then, that Pelosi was given a 100 percent rating for supporting the interests of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) in 2005.
The Democratic House leader Nancy Pelosi told the Washington Post last month that this year’s midterm congressional campaign “shouldn't be about national security.” Thanks to an obliging mainstream press that continues to make the Foley cybersex page scandal the lead story day after day, she and her fellow leftists are escaping accountability for doing everything in their power to tilt our legal system in favor of terrorists’ rights while undermining our military and intelligence services.
One of Pelosi’s most shocking votes was against consideration of appropriations for intelligence and intelligence-related activities in fiscal year 2007 since there was no funding for something called a “Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board.” Declaring that the NSA warrantless electronic surveillance program is illegal, Pelosi also voted against a compromise that would have required judicial oversight but still provided the President with some additional flexibility during wartime. In Pelosi’s world – which will turn into nightmarish reality if she becomes the next Speaker of the House – the privacy rights of terrorist suspects and their friends under surveillance would trump our right to be protected against the execution of their murderous plans.
In keeping with her radical civil liberties philosophy, Pelosi voted against the REAL ID Act of 2005, which was aimed at stiffening federal laws to protect against terrorists’ entry to the country and their abuse of the state driver's license process to obtain false identification. She also led the Democratic opposition and voted against the Secure Fence Act of 2006, signed into law by President Bush, to establish operational control over the international land and maritime borders of the United States, including the building of a 700 mile long fence along the U.S.-Mexican border.
She voted NO on a measure to protect U.S. citizens, including our soldiers, from being arbitrarily arrested and brought before the unaccountable UN-sponsored International Criminal Court for a kangaroo trial.
Pelosi voted NO on deploying a national missile defense system, even in the face of North Korean and Iranian development of long-range missile and nuclear capabilities. She voted NO on continuing military recruitment on college campuses, even though this would upgrade the quality and breadth of our military forces.
Pelosi opposed both the first Gulf War to remove Saddam Hussein from Kuwait in 1991 and the second war twelve years later to forcibly remove him from power altogether ...
It is no wonder that Pelosi wants desperately to change the subject of this campaign to anything but national security. Coming from someone who scoffs at traditional moral values by voting against the Defense of Marriage Act and the ban on partial birth abortions, Pelosi’s sudden protestations of moral outrage over Foley’s salacious e-mails would be laughable – until her political strategy becomes clear. With her self-righteous posturing, she wants to distract people from asking whether they are willing to take a chance on a leftist clique that places terrorist rights before the security of our families and believes that using our military to take the fight to the terrorists abroad is a bad thing. “I don't really consider ourselves at war,” Pelosi has said in describing her views on the struggle against global terrorism. With such a philosophy governing the House and creating more obstacles to defeating the Islamic-fascists, the risk of another catastrophic terrorist attack reaching us soon in our homes, at work, at school, while traveling or in our places of worship will increase exponentially – a debacle in the making that we simply cannot afford at this crucial time in our history.
http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=24819
To consider that this Leftist from San Francisco might soon be second in line to the Presidency behind VP Cheney - sends chills both up and down my spine. But the more immediate and proximal threat would be the rise of her influence in the House of Representatives.

Definitions and labels are good. They help us differentiate objects and concepts that otherwise might be lumped together and misunderstood.
When I hear that a person is gay, I figure he has same sex attractions and acts upon those attractions. When I hear that a person is a heterosexual, I figure that he has opposite sex attractions that he may or may not act upon. Why the difference?
From Newsmax:
Conservative gay columnist Andrew Sullivan wrote that he was among many in Washington who had heard that Foley was gay yet unwilling to come out.
"What the closet does to people - the hypocrisies it fosters, the pathologies it breeds - is brutal," Sullivan wrote on his Web site. "From what I've read, Foley is another example of this destructive and self-destructive pattern for which the only cure is courage and honesty."
http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2006/10/4/165630.shtml?s=ic
I disagree with Mr Sullivan. The answer to Mark Foley's dilemma was self control, which he evidently lacked. It's the same self control exercised by heterosexual men when they see a pretty little teenage girl and choose not to entertain inappropriate thoughts about her. A good man develops integrity, discipline, and standards that steer him through a daily minefield of opportunities to be a creep. These qualities work for heterosexuals, men with same sex attractions, and even old bachelors like me. I'm still attracted to young women - I like them - but part of growing up and being a man is developing a character that resides above the gutter. It's simply saying no to unworthy things. It's learning how to address an inappropriate thought by mentally changing the subject... a practiced discipline.
Historically, homosexuality has featured adult men with youths, just as inappropriate heterosexual encounters usually involve young women. Both scenarios involve appetites developed and characters underdeveloped.
Whether it's at work, on the street, or at church - every day we rub elbows with all sorts of personalities and all sorts and degrees of sexuality. We all have things hidden in our closets that never see the light of day- and we store them right behind our integrity, discipline, standards, and self control.

Janice over at Nuggets of News relates an interesting development in the crazy world of the American Muslims and their rabble-rousing representatives at the Council on American-Islamic Relations. Janice writes:
Yesterday's whine-o-gram news brief details what CAIR believes to be a possible hate crime at Pace University in lower Manhattan. A paperback copy of a koran was found in the men's room toilet. CAIR-NY is calling on the university to treat the incident as a possible hate crime and sees this incident as evidence of the growing phenomenon of islamophobia in the United States.
CAIR and their followers are turning the... "growing phenomenon of islamophobia in the United States"... into a "growing phenomenon of islamo-contempt and islamo-resentment and islamo-let's-kick-their-butts-outta-here." A Koran in the toilet sounds like a kind of free speech to me. Tasteless free speech - but free speech. I realize that many of these people come straight from the armpit of the world - where there is no free speech... But how hard of a concept is it to grasp? I'M SURE THEY'RE NOT SUGGESTING THAT ALL OF AMERICA SHOULD CHANGE JUST TO SUIT THEM!
CAIR struts around presuming to tell Americans how to act. They remind me of the strutting Major Strasser in Casablanca when he says, "Oh, we Germans must get used to all climates from Russia to the Sahara..." Sounds like something an Islamo-fascist intent on world domination would say.
Janice continues:
...a town hall meeting was held yesterday for the Pace student population in order to create a better understanding of islam. http://19jancan66.blogspot.com/2006/10/cair-believes-koran-found-in-toilet-is.html
That's nice. But we could spend billions of dollars to sensitivity-train all Americans to be more respectful of Muslims - And we could change our laws to curtail our free speech where Muslims are concerned. Or, we could tell the American Muslims where to get off.
How can we get this point across to them? How many public restrooms are there in America?

Is anyone surprised at the timely revelation of the Mark Foley sex scandal?
Six years ago the Dems were formulating the timing of the George Bush DUI scandal, which almost cost Bush the 2000 election. Now with the president's popularity rising and oil prices falling, the Dems need a boost for the fall elections and... well....
From Yahoo news:
The fact that Foley resigned virtually within minutes of being told that ABC News had copies of his salacious e-mails and text messages indicates he at least felt shame for his actions. Can the same be said for Democrats?
In 1983, then-Democratic Rep. Gerry Studds of Massachusetts was caught in a similar situation. In his case, Studds had sex with a male teenage page -- something Foley hasn't been charged with.
Did Studds express contrition? Resign? Quite the contrary. He rejected Congress' censure of him and continued to represent his district until his retirement in 1996.
In 1989, Rep. Barney Frank, also of Massachusetts, admitted he'd lived with Steve Gobie, a male prostitute who ran a gay sex-for-hire ring out of Frank's apartment. Frank, it was later discovered, used his position to fix 33 parking tickets for Gobie.
What happened to Frank? The House voted 408-18 to reprimand him -- a slap on the wrist. Today he's an honored Democratic member of Congress, much in demand as a speaker and "conscience of the party."
In 2001, President Clinton, who had his own intern problem, commuted the prison sentence of Illinois Rep. Mel Reynolds, who had sex with a 16-year-old campaign volunteer and pressured her to lie about it. (Reynolds also was convicted of campaign spending violations.)
You get the idea. Democrats not only seem OK with the kind of behavior for which Foley is charged, but also they protect and excuse it.
We have a lot more questions about this whole affair. The timing of the revelations, as we noted, couldn't be more propitious for the Democrats. Turns out both the Democrats and several newspapers seem to have known about Foley's problem as far back as November, according to research by several enterprising blogs.
Why didn't they come forward then? Who dredged up these e-mails -- and why did they hold them until now? This reeks of political trickery.

Look at all the problems this country faces, and then look what is splashed all over the headlines. It's not about solving America's problems - It's all about regaining power. This is the Democrat plan for America: Just keep throwing the mud and surely some of it will stick.
I watched the news during lunch which featured a law official from the state of Pennsylvania going on and on about the loser who killed the little seven and eight-year-old Amish girls. Now this loser is famous and all America knows his name - and about the notes he left - and about the objects be bought before the murders, and on and on.
When a sick loser takes a gun and shoots little girls - it makes me angry - it dosn't make me want to get to know him. Going in, he had to know that he would be awarded fame - as was the Columbine losers, the sand-trash losers of 9/11, all the pervert serial killer losers, etc.
I don't want to know why this cowardly and evil piece of crap did this. I don't want to know his name, his reasons, or his life history. And I don't want some other sick S.O.B. sitting at home watching the news to get any ideas about becoming the next media-produced death-cult hero.
The news media should just assume a few obvious facts and report them.
They should report that the guy was obviously a total psychotic jerk. They should report that he probably had the smallest penis in Pennsylvania. They should report that this loser hadn't the personality, the brains, nor the character to do anything meaningful with his pathetic life.
They should talk about the poor victims in this senseless tragedy - and not give this loser everything he was after - attention and fame.

AOL customers are being asked to rate the cable news networks. Now while I'm convinced from previous polls that the AOL subscribers are mostly liberal - I don't think liberals watch that much news or are that well informed. They are more interested in style than facts... they're more interested in what is fashionable than developing personal political principles. OK... that's a BIG generalization, but I think it's a good one. I think that conservatives are more likely the news junkies... and more likely to be interested in addressing this AOL poll. That said...
Which of these cable news networks do you prefer to watch?
Fox News 60%
CNN 27%
MSNBC 13%
Total Votes: 17,625
What do you think of Fox News?
It's balanced 59%
It's too conservative 38%
It's too liberal 3%
Total Votes: 17,318
What do you think of CNN?
It's too liberal 58%
It's balanced 35%
It's too conservative 6%
Total Votes: 17,158
What do you think of MSNBC?
It's too liberal 55%
It's balanced 36%
It's too conservative 9%
Total Votes: 16,798
And how about cable news' biggest star, Bill O'Reilly?
Do you watch him?
Yes, on occasion 36%
No, I can't take him 34%
Yes, I can't get enough of him 29%
Total Votes: 15,598
How would you describe him?
He's balanced 55%
He's too conservative 40%
He's too liberal 4%
Total Votes: 15,443

AOL ran a poll yesterday asking customers to rank the last four presidents in the order that history will favorably judge them. Below are the results and the "first place" percentages.
1) Ronald Reagan 50%
2) Bill Clinton 29%
3) George H W Bush 10%
4) George W Bush 11%
True conservatives would have Reagan in first place and "W" in second. "W's" first place votes no doubt are cast by those who truly grasp the gravity of our struggle with radical Islam and figure his stature will rise with the perspective that only time provides. Bill Clinton's first place votes are purely Democrat-Liberal.
But the numbers demonstrate that among a generally liberal population (AOL customers) two conservatives garner 60% of the first place votes. To me this indicates that even among likely Democrat voters - Bill Clinton's presidency is recognized for what it was - and perhaps the post-9/11 chatter may be revealing even more of his shortcomings.

If you read the writings of Mark Steyn you begin to wonder if there is hope for the survival of western culture - and you begin to think that Europe is already lost. With the European-Muslim birth rates soaring, and the radical elements of the immigrant population effecting the formation and rule of law, Europe faces a more insidious and ubiquitous threat to its survival than the Nazis brought to the 1930's.
Imagine the Nazis in plain clothes, infiltrating every facet of life in every country of Europe. Imagine the Third Reich conquering France, England, and Spain - not with armies, but from within. If you imagine a more patient Hitler with a subtler approach, you begin to grasp the monumental challenge that Europe faces.
Ironically, it may be the rise of another fascist leader that ultimately saves the European culture.
Adolph Hitler rode the economic forces of the Great Depression into power, establishing economic security and modest prosperity. Although he abolished political parties, his popularity was such that he probably would have won an election held in 1936 or 1938.
Consider the forces acting upon on the European Culture and Economy today. Consider the Muslim riots throughout Europe. Consider the rapes, the bombings, the threats, and the demands for a separate Muslim society with a form of Sharia Law. We constantly hear of pending civil war in Iraq, but aren't the same forces at play throughout Europe?
Recently in Switzerland, the conservative "Swiss People's Party" has forced immigration reforms, through national referenda, that have wide public support. If the "Europeans" of Europe are to resist the Muslim colonization and intimidation of Europe, I believe it will be through the efforts of conservative groups rallying a populace which has seen enough political extortion and negative change.
My question is this: Could Europeans unite behind a charismatic leader that promised order, prosperity, and the reestablishment of the dominant culture? Is there a country in Europe that is ripe for such a leader?
Mankind may be suffering the birth pangs of World War III. Some say it is already upon us. If the battle lines form in Europe, will the United States play a role similar to its past?

Andrew McCarthy writes in the National Review Online:
Another day, another New York Times publication of classified information.
Another election cycle, another strategic intelligence-community leak transparently designed to affect the outcome.
Another coincidence of Iraq and al Qaeda terrorism, another simplistic Democratic claim of causation between Iraq and al Qaeda terrorism (but, naturally, never a concession of connection between Iraq and al Qaeda terrorism).
On Sunday, the Times disclosed a selectively leaked snippet from the new National Intelligence Estimate which evidently suggests that Bush administration policy — in particular, the war in Iraq — has increased Islamic radicalism. As night follows day, prominent Democrats were ready to pounce …
Whether we wish to acknowledge it or not, jihadism is attractive to tens of millions of people in what is called the Muslim world. Out of a total population of about 1.3 billion, that may not be a very high percentage (although I daresay it is higher than we like to think). But it is the ideology that attracts recruits. Grievances are just rhetoric. If the bin Ladens did not have Iraq, or the Palestinians, or Lebanon, or Pope Benedict, or cartoons, or flushed Korans, or Dutch movies, or the Crusades, they’d figure out something else to beat the drums over. Or they’d make something up — there being lots of license to improvise when one purports to be executing Allah’s will.
It is bad enough when the Muslim charlatans opportunistically use American policies they don’t like for militant propaganda purposes. It is reprehensible when American politicians do it.
Jihadists hate us because they hate us, not because of Iraq. If President Clinton’s Iraq policy was a problem, it was only because he didn’t follow through on it. By threatening to act forcefully but then letting Saddam Hussein and his terror-mongering fester, Clinton played right into al Qaeda’s conviction that America did not have the stomach for a fight and could be attacked with impunity — a conviction that was reinforced when terror attacks were in fact met with paltry, or no, response.
Bush, to the contrary, has chosen to fight al Qaeda where it is standing, figuring captured or dead terrorists can no longer harm Americans. Right now, al Qaeda is standing in Iraq, so that’s where we must fight it — whether or not you agree that we should be there in the first place. It matters nothing that jihadists will use that fight in their recruitment speeches. It matters everything, though, if we withdraw from the fight and they win.

The entire article is terrific. McCarthy makes the point that al Qaeda terrorists grew in number during the Clinton years - that bin Laden's fatwa to kill Americans whenever and wherever came along in 1998 when Clinton and Sadam were still in power.

GENEVA — Swiss voters ratified new asylum and immigration laws on Sunday, making it more difficult for refugees to receive assistance in Switzerland and effectively blocking unskilled workers outside Europe from moving to the country.
The proposal was overwhelmingly accepted in all of Switzerland's 26 states.
The government says the law is designed to prevent abuses in the system caused by non-refugees finding ways to stay indefinitely in Switzerland. It facilitates easier repatriation of people whose asylum requests have been rejected, which the government says will allow it to devote more resources to real refugees.
Those refusing to leave despite a rejected application can now be denied social welfare.
Critics contend the new requirements will close the door on victims of war and persecution around the world who are unable to produce valid identity papers within 48 hours of entering Switzerland as the law demands.
They say the bill — passed after heavy campaigning by the right-wing Swiss People's Party and its billionaire leader Christoph Blocher — is unrealistic in expecting rape or torture victims to be able to furnish such papers when fleeing their homes. Rights groups have said it could lead to violations of international law.
The country's cherished system of direct democracy means that the people's consent is required on any major issue. Referendums occur regularly throughout the year.

(The bold type was my emphasis added.)
This article talks much of refugees, but surely the Swiss and the Conservative Party mentioned have looked around and noticed what's happening in Europe - and perhaps these laws have much to do with Muslims and their accompanying problems.
Notice that it's the conservatives (called right wingers if you're a liberal journalist) who are leading the way.
Maybe the USA needs a little direct democracy on its immigration issues. Bypassing the Republicans-in-Name-Only and the Dems, and letting the majority opinion rule, would yield much different immigration policies.
