This is an opossum. Didelphus marsupialis, as we say in Greentown.
It's dead now. Too bad it wasn't a cat.

I think this hits way below the belt. If I had more time today, the gloves just might have to come off over this travesty.

I don't know. I think I've captured something here... Perhaps I've stumbled upon a metaphor for our daily struggle... Are not we all... in our own way... Roadkill?
I'm thinking that this could be a stunning monthly feature on Malott's Blog. A pictorial think-piece of such stature and poignance... racoons, squirrels, and the heart-wrenching carcass of the "unknown roadkill."
It gives me pause.
