CAIR

The Council on American-Islamic Relations web site featured this:
Evangelical Protestants tend to view Islam much more unfavourably than do mainline U.S. Protestants and Catholics, according to a new analysis of recent public opinion surveys published here Wednesday by the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life.
The analysis, much of which is based on findings of a major poll carried out last summer by the Pew Research Centre for the People & the Press, found that a strong plurality of 50 percent of white evangelical Protestants believe that Islam "is more likely than others to encourage violence among its believers", while only about a third of mainline Protestants and Catholics accepted that view.

Really. Let me guess, mainline Protestants are liberals, right?

Anti-Cair, another web site, features some quotes that might explain why conservative Christians should be suspicious of Muslims, and CAIR in particular:

"If you choose to live here, you have a responsibility to deliver the message of Islam ... Islam isn't in America to be equal to any other faiths, but to become dominant. The Koran, the Muslim book of scripture, should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on Earth."
-Omar Ahmad, co-founder of CAIR

"I am in support of the Hamas movement."
-Nihad Awad, Executive Director of CAIR

"I wouldn't want to create the impression that I wouldn't like the government of the United States to be Islamic sometime in the future..."
-Ibrahim Hooper, spokesperson for CAIR

On the subject of suicide bombers:
"Fighting for freedom, fighting for Islam-that is not suicide. They kill themselves for Islam,..."
-Omar Ahmad, co-founder of CAIR

These guys are here. These guys are organized. These guys have an agenda, and that agenda is not to blend in and embrace American culture.

Conservative Christians are perhaps foible-rich when it comes self-preservation and our religious freedom. Show us a group that identifies itself with movements and governments that desire the destruction of the United States and its culture... and we are going to be suspicious. We are funny that way.

Cair was hit with a dose of American courage. Andrew Whitehead(Anti-Cair) was slapped with a libel suit from the thugs at cair 2 years ago. They settled out of court. I think cair bit off a little more than they could chew this time.
It's tough to defend yourself, when your own words are being used against you. That's where cair found themselves when they were asked to turn over damaging documents to the defendant. Chalk one up for the good guys, cair crys uncle.
