Thought for the Day...

Better to live on a corner of the roof
than share a house with a quarrelsome wife.

Proverbs 21:9

That's why I've avoided getting myself a wife. I just don't want to take the chance.

So, what brought this thought to mind? Just asking...

That's just where I was today in my OT Marathon... I thought it was cute and a little controversial.

I'm over half way through the Old Testament now... and dreading the coming of the Prophets. Sounds painful.

Oh, don't dread the prophets! I love them. We studied the minor prophets in Bible Study Fellowship years ago, and I fell in love with Nahum and especially Habakkuk.

For Nahum, it helps if you have some historical context (that's what BSF gave us), because the book itself doesn't tell you how it was fulfilled. But it was fulfilled in absolute detail, and what excited me about that was that God never changes. If He fulfilled OT prophecy in detail, why would He not fulfill Revelation in detail? Can you tell I'm not an A-millenialist?

Sorry to go on about it. But Habakkuk could have been written for today. Check out Hab. 1:5. Oops. There I go again...

and be utterly amazed.
For I am going to do something in your days

even if you were told."

Thanks Skyepuppy. Maybe I have something to look forward to.

OT Marathon?? When did you start it? I took the "wesleyan challenge" of reading the BIble through in a year and WOW it has worn me out. I like to sit and chew on things for a while. I'm not enjoying reading SO MUCH in one day. I've planned a much simpler reading for next year. Although I have a feeling it is going to be a painful study - kicking me in the pants all the way!!!

Bekah,

I even found some cool stuff in Leviticus--shocker, I know.

Chris,

If you want, let me know when you finish Nahum, and can fill you in on what I remember of how it was fulfilled.

OK. I think I need to get back into the OT. Just as soon as I finish the epistles.

Skyepuppy - Oh I am with you on Leviticus. I'm all about the year of Sabbath rest and the year of Jubilee!!!

Bekah,

I'm not sure about the Jubilee part about letting your servants go. My favorite part of the Proverbs 31 woman is where it says she keeps her servants busy. Now, if I could only find some servants to keep busy...

I love Isaiah especially the first 7 chapters and the last 20 chapters. Of course Daniel is fascinating.
