Edwards for President?

Mark Belling, hosting for a vacationing Rush Limbaugh, said he is picking Edwards to win the Democrat nomination.

So when was the last time a failed Vice Presidential nominee was:
1) nominated for president?
2) elected president?

I'm just glad that my questions produced such an amazing amount of interest.

OK. 1) Ford dropped Vice President Rockefeller because he was too liberal. Bob Dole ran with Ford and lost. He later was nominated by the Republicans for President (1996).

I don't know the answer for (2).

I thought the question was rhetorical, as in, "There aren't any, so Edwards is going to be a big fat loser all over again." Guess I was mistaken.

I looked up #2. FDR was the losing VP nominee in 1920.

Skyepuppy,

Thanks buddy. The way people talk about FDR, I figured he never lost at anything.
