More on Palin Bashing

This video is very revealing... Especially the 2nd woman interviewed...

I saw Carl Cameron on The O'Reilly Factor when he reported the anonymous criticism of Governor Palin. I think these two pompous, sexist asses, Cameron and O'Reilly, should be ashamed of themselves. This kind of cowardly anonymous trashing is so unfair and leaves the governor with no dignified way to defend herself... And the fact it was reported taints Cameron and O'Reilly. These two little men who have accomplished much less than the governor, recklessly helped propagate rumors about a good woman who tirelessly gave her all to the campaign and energized the Republican base.

I chose not to believe the stories, because they didn't make sense. But they still made me doubt her... At least for awhile. It's just not fair that one disgruntled campaign worker can anonymously trash Palin, and it's unprofessional and irresponsible for Cameron and O'Reilly to report it.

And who should you believe? Some faceless, nameless phantom who could have any number of prejudices or agendas... Or the people who know her best and are willing to go to bat for her... On the record.

I think that the #1 item on the post-election press agenda was to eliminate Sarah Palin from the political landscape forever. She is everything that the left does NOT want to see in a woman with political aspirations and they never want to have to deal with her again. If she is as trifling as the current stories say, then John McCain was an idiot to have selected her and she is an actress worthy of an academy award. I don't believe either is true. If I were her, I'd stay in Alaska with my family and friends and let the lower 48 take a flying leap...oh, wait...we just did!

One of the maddening characteristics of the press is their insane and irresponsible zeal to be the first to break a story. That leads them to blathering about so many things that turn out to be untrue. They aren't looking for truth. They just want to be first. Remember when they released that ridiculous story about the woman who carved the backward "B" into her cheek and told the press that deranged Obama supporters did it? 15 more minutes of investigating would have left that story in the trach bin and we'd never have heard about it. So who was first to blab that and this story about Sarah Palin, and what was their prize?

If Cameron's report is true, then I'm even happier that they lost. But as a sometimes-journalist myself, I don't buy his assertions that all of these "facts" were given "off-the-record" -- so he couldn't report them before the election. That's bull! If so, then why is he reporting it now? Also, isn't that kind of an important report to give BEFORE the election, if true? "Off the record" ain't covered in those circumstances.

And, again, if true, it shows an incredible lack of intellectual curiosity on a 40-plus-year-old candidate.

Though if this were really about breaking a story first, then Cameron would have told the story before -- even though it's off the record.

Mojo,

My understanding about campaign reporters is that they have to promise to absolutely NOT reveal any of the behind-the-scenes stuff until after the election. If they won't agree to that, they're not allowed to cover the campaign. So from that perspective, the timing is to be expected.

Cameron wouldn't have been in a position to have known this information, if it's even true, from the press area, since the Africa and towel incidents didn't include reporters. A campaign staffer starting a whispering campaign would have to wait until after the election if he didn't want to lose his job. Again, the timing sounds reasonable for this sort of hatchet job.

There's no way this stuff is true. Stupid people might do well in Congress, but they don't govern states with Palin's success and approval rating. She's a sharp cookie, and even her political "enemies," like one ardent feminist journalist (whose name and magazine escape me right now), say Palin is an intelligent, gracious woman.
