Conservatives Won't Rally

If the very liberal Rudy Giuliani had won the nomination, Conservatives would have been troubled. But I believe they would have rallied behind him, because he was the better choice... And they liked him... And they respected him.

Conservatives despise McCain. He is the ultimate "Republican In Name Only"... A man they held close... And who stabbed them in the back... Again... And again.

Whether it was immigration, taxes, campaign reform, embryonic research... McCain, as if vindictively "acting out" over being rejected by Conservatives in 2000, played more to the liberal press than to his party's base. As Mona Charren put it, "Every time the New York Times shows a little ankle, John goes weak at the knees."

John McCain is Bob Dole - without the conservatives' support - And that is a losing ticket.

Your assessment regarding the support Rudi would have gotten is spot on.

I also believe a lot of conservatives will stay home if the rino is nominated.

John McCain is an irritable, vindictive piece of... work. I will not be voting for him. Ever.
