Democrat Presidential Candidate Joe Biden, A Piece of Work

Speaking of Barrack Obama, Biden said: “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy,” he said. “I mean, that’s a storybook, man.” http://www.observer.com/20070205/20070205_Jason_Horowitz_pageone_newsstory1.html

Yes Joe, thanks for revealing to us your true feelings about Black Americans. If you think articulate, bright, and clean African Americans are storybook material - maybe you should spend a little time with Condoleeza Rice or Colin Powell. Skyepuppy could introduce you to La Shawn Barber.

All black... All Clean... All the time.
Arm Thyself, Pilgrim

With Democrats taking a larger role in our security, it might be wise for Americans to exercise their 2nd amendment rights and arm themselves... At least until some liberal Federal Judge decides the right to keep and bear arms doesn't jive with his values.

The National Rifle Association is a wonderful organization to join - I was a member long enough to get a hat.

Of course if the Dems and their liberal judges keep up their tyranical ways, we might need some guns and another little American Revolution just to seure the right to govern ourselves.

I like these people.

Looking Away

Mark Steyn writes:

Darfur is an apt symbol of early 21st century liberalism: What matters is that you urge action rather than take any. On Iraq, meanwhile, the president declared: "Let us find our resolve, and turn events toward victory." And the Dems sat on their hands.
The American left has long deplored Bush's rhetorical reliance on such vulgar conceits as "good" and "evil." But it seems even "victory" is a problematic concept, and right now the momentum is all for defeat of one kind or another. ...Last year Arthur M. Sulzberger Jr., publisher of the New York Times, gave a commencement address of almost parodic boomer narcissism, hailing his own generation for their anti-war idealism. ...As it happens, millions died in Vietnam and Cambodia (after our departure). And the least the self-absorbed poseurs like Sulzberger could do is occasionally remember that the world is about more than their moral vanity.
Seventy years ago, Britain and Europe could not rouse themselves to focus on a looming war; today, we can't rouse ourselves even to focus on a war that's happening right now. Read 100 percent of the Democratic presidential candidates' platforms and a sizeable chunk of the Republicans': We're full of pseudo-energy for phantom crises and ersatz enemies, like "global warming.''

When asked what might cause Democrats to stop playing politics and start fighting the war on terror, Rush Limbaugh said, "about two or three more attacks."

But there is a simpler calculation: The Democrats will support the war on terror when the polls suggest their support would be poltically expedient.

"Deafening silence," "cruel kindness," and other oxymorons must make room for "Democrat Leadership."

Peter Pan and Me

Well I go back to work tomorrow after celebrating my birth week by spending way too much money. I did pick up a few desperately needed essentials - levis 505's, tennis shoes, 80 gigabyte iPod.

iPod, therefore I am.

My one good deed - I took my dad to the eye doctor on Wednesday, where I watched the 5th episode of "24" ...on my iPod. Am I cool? Oh yes. Yes I am.

But on Thursday it happened. I was at Sam's, innocently browsing their software section, and looking up - it caught my eye. It was just a little box... so harmless... and it was only $18.00. My hand reached out... and it was mine.

Less than an hour later I was loading "World of Warcraft" on my computer. I don't remember much after that. All I know is, my character - ElamKree - is at level 11 now, and knows no fear. He is everything I never was... Big, Brave, and reasonably Violent.

What if I start wearing a tunic, tights, and a cape when I play the game? Would it be so wrong? ElamKree would understand.

But how am I going to explain all this to my imaginary girlfriend?

The Peter Heck Show - Expands

The fastest growing radio talk show in Central Indiana has expanded to two hours - broadcasting from 4-6 PM on WIOU in Kokomo.
The Peter Heck Show is Conservative Talk from a Christian Perspective and feature's one of the most likeable people I've ever met. You should go to Heck's web site and listen to a recorded segment or two.

And bloggers - there will soon be a forum section!!!

The amazing thing about Heck is that he actually listens to his listeners and has been known to change his mind based on the correspondence he receives.

Above: Peter Heck sitting at former Speaker Hastert's desk.

If public taste ever wearies of false promises and fashion - and settles upon intellect and character - the guy would be a shoe-in for Congress. I'd love to see it.

Walking Away Won't Save American Lives

77 U.S. Senators and 69% of the House of Representatives voted to go to war in Iraq. But many of these brave politicians don't want to play anymore. It's just too hard now. They want to call "no tapbacks" and walk away - as if that's all they have to do to end Radical Islam's war against the United States. But Isolationism isn't an option when your enemies won't cooperate and stay home.

Looking through liberal eyes, our troops seem pinned down and at the mercy of Iraqi insurgents. ( Islamic terrorists) But I find it comforting that our military is located in Radical Islam's backyard - and I wonder if it isn't our enemy that is pinned down and unable to attack or increase its influence.

And what about our influence? With Iran harboring terrorists and working on nuclear weapons - is there a better place for us to be than at their doorstep? Cutting and running from Iraq will only increase Iran's and Hezbollah's influence in the region - and increase the threat of Radical Islam against Israel and the U.S. mainland.

And yet, George Bush is a very lonely man. I think the political climate in Washington illustrates that it is much easier to be a politician than a leader.
ACLU to Defend Butt Artist Teacher

The executive director of the Virginia chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union said a public employee such as former teacher Stephen Murmer has a right to free expression outside the workplace as long as it does not interfere with his job.

"Once he became fired, then it became a potential legal issue," said Kent Willis. "First Amendment issues always have a high priority ranking for us."

School spokeswoman Debra Marlow said, "If there is a legal case, we'll prepare for it."

Murmer was suspended in December and then fired Jan. 9 after a video turned up on YouTube.com showing him with a fake nose and glasses, a towel on his head and black thong.
It showed him practicing his private abstract artwork, much of which is produced when he smears his posterior and genitals with paint and presses them against canvas. The video was widely dispersed among students.

Marlow said after Murmer's firing that students have a right to receive their education in a positive learning environment and that teachers are expected to lead by example, be role models and honor core values.

Some poor liberal dork is reading this story and thinking about the donation he mailed to the ACLU last week. Butt Art. Money well spent.

I'm sure Stephen Murmer is a fine butt artist, but can he make one of these?
Once We Have Lost One or More Cities

Newt Gingrich, via satellite, addressed the Herzliya Conference held by the Institute for Policy and Strategy at IDC Herzliya on Tuesday afternoon.

"Three nuclear weapons are a second Holocaust," Gingrich declared, adding: "People are greatly underestimating how dangerous the world is becoming.

He added that the United States could "lose two or three cities to nuclear weapons, or more than a million to biological weapons."
"Our enemies are fully as determined as Nazi Germany, and more determined that the Soviets. Our enemies will kill us the first chance they get. There is no rational ability to deny that fact. It's very clear that the problems are larger and more immediate than the political systems in Israel or the US are currently capable of dealing with," said Gingrich.

"We don't have right language, goals, structure, or operating speed, to defeat our enemies. My hope is that being this candid and direct, I could open a dialogue that will force people to come to grips with how serious this is, how real it is, how much we are threatened. If that fails, at least we will be intellectually prepared for the correct results once we have lost one or more cities," Gingrich added. (emphasis added)

Earlier, Mitt Romney, former governor of Massachusetts, said that Islamic jihadism was "the nightmare of this century."
Romney emphasized that Iran could not be compared to the former Soviet threat, because the Islamic Republic was following a suicidal path. "For all of the Soviets' deep flaws, they were never suicidal. Soviet commitment to national survival was never in question. That assumption cannot be made to an irrational regime (Iran) that celebrates martyrdom," he said.

Either this is right wing propaganda from a couple of political hopefuls - or - George Bush deserves much higher approval ratings.

State of Disunion

If American forces step back before Baghdad is secure, the Iraqi government would be overrun by extremists on all sides. We could expect an epic battle between Shia extremists backed by Iran, and Sunni extremists aided by al Qaeda and supporters of the old regime. A contagion of violence could spill out across the country – and in time the entire region could be drawn into the conflict.

For America, this is a nightmare scenario. For the enemy, this is the objective. Chaos is their greatest ally in this struggle. And out of chaos in Iraq, would emerge an emboldened enemy with new safe havens... new recruits ... new resources ... and an even greater determination to harm America. To allow this to happen would be to ignore the lessons of September 11th and invite tragedy. And ladies and gentlemen, nothing is more important at this moment in our history than for America to succeed in the Middle East ... to succeed in Iraq ... and to spare the American people from this danger.

This is where matters stand tonight, in the here and now. I have spoken with many of you in person. I respect you and the arguments you have made. We went into this largely united – in our assumptions, and in our convictions. And whatever you voted for, you did not vote for failure. Our country is pursuing a new strategy in Iraq – and I ask you to give it a chance to work. And I ask you to support our troops in the field – and those on their way.

The war on terror we fight today is a generational struggle that will continue long after you and I have turned our duties over to others. That is why it is important to work together so our Nation can see this great effort through. Both parties and both branches should work in close consultation. And this is why I propose to establish a special advisory council on the war on terror, made up of leaders in Congress from both political parties. We will share ideas for how to position America to meet every challenge that confronts us. And we will show our enemies abroad that we are united in the goal of victory.

Well Mr President, that's very nice... But last November the American People listened to the Party of self-serving panderers - those who gently stroke the forehead while whispering a popular, soothing lie - as they administer the narcotic of wishful thinking. The American people voted for peace... and surrender.

There are only two ways to stop the terrorism:
1) Surrender and live under the domination of Islam.
2) Soundly defeat the Islamic jihad.

Reaching for Mom

I posted this back in March of last year - contrasting the horrible picture above with the experience I had with an unplanned little girl - that was allowed to live. I tried to be clever and profound by repeatedly mentioning the her arms and hands. Anyway, it seems appropriate again today with the anniversary of Roe vs. Wade.

I talked to the little girl's grandmother just last week and she is representing her county in the National Spelling Bee Contest.

I've never had a child of my own. But for two years I picked up a little girl at her grandmother's house every Sunday morning and took her to Church. Well, she went to Sunday School and I went to Church. Afterwards, I would feed her and then we would play all afternoon until her mother finished work at 4PM. By then, my house would be a mess, we would both be exhausted, and she would always fall asleep in my pick-up truck a quarter mile from my house on her way home.

One day when she was four, her mother and I picked her up at nursery school... the first time I'd been there... and with all her friends watching she headed straight for me, grabbed my leg in her little brown hands, and looked back at her friends.

On her fifth birthday her family had a party for her at a public park and I arrived late. It was cold and windy, and I wondered if anyone would show up. But the Philippine community on the north side of Indianapolis never missed a chance to get together, and everyone was there. As I approached the park shelter, she left her friends, screamed my name, and ran and jumped in my arms. Every eye was on us as I carried her back to the shelter, her arms around my neck and her cold little nose pressed against my face.

She had no memories of a father, but she had me.

But when she was scared or hurt, she always reached for Mom. Mom had born her out of wedlock in that other country where that kind of thing was still a big deal. Mom had cared for her out of a small suitcase those two scary days in Thailand when Mom wasn't sure where they would end up. And Mom had carried her on her hip into grandma's house in a strange new place called Indiana.

This little child touched me in so many ways, but my benefits paled next to what she did for her mother. You'd have thought her little hands could heal as she performed a miracle... transforming a bitter, disobedient, often neglected girl, into a beautiful woman of character and determination. The child was inconvenient, destroying so many dreams that the young mother had held... And as big a burden as she was before she was born, she was an even bigger burden for a young nursing student holding down a full time job, going to school full time, and still finding time to be Mom.

I thought the little girl would be mine, but it wasn't meant to be. Maybe Mom didn't love me, though I know she tried... but there was no mistaking the love and dreams she held for her daughter.

The child has a real father now, and I've heard he's a good man.

I've only seen my little one twice in the last three years and both times it was awkward for us, with little to say. Her memories of me, I'm sure, are cloudy at best... if she ever thinks of me at all.

I think about her every day. I remember her arms around my neck. I remember her little hand in mine.

Root Cause of Terrorism

Joseph Farah writes:

The root cause of terrorism is foreign domination and control of Muslim resources.
The root cause of terrorism is the hatred of the Western way of life.
The root cause of terrorism is alienation.
The root cause of terrorism is poverty and illiteracy.
The root cause of terrorism is the moral decadence of the West.
The root cause of terrorism is the West's support for Israel.

Do you know what I think is the root cause of terrorism?
It works.

What do the terrorists want besides killing and terrifying people?

Ultimately, it is very simple. They want the entire world subjugated to Islamic rule and law.

There are only two ways to stop the terrorism:
1) Surrender and live under the domination of Islam.
2) Soundly defeat the Islamic jihad.

You can't talk to it. You can't buy it off. You can't understand it. You can't win it over with compassion. You can't reason with it. You can't negotiate with it. You can't bargain with it. You can't appease it away. You can't wish it away.

In fact, this is an enemy that cannot be seduced by expressions of "tolerance" and gestures of goodwill. It is actually repulsed by such moves – seeing them as weakness to be exploited further and signs that their strategy is winning the day.

http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=53842

In 1964 we elected Lyndon Johnson over Barry Goldwater, which insured for Vietnam a policy of containment rather than victory at any cost. This half-hearted war strategy led to defeat in Southeast Asia and a national weakness that led to Jimmy Carter's pathetic response to the Iran Hostage Crisis.

Now we are in Iraq, not as conquerors, but as the kindly, meddling big brother. While our intentions are noble, our tactics once again show weakness. The militias don't fear us. Iran and Syria manipulate and sabotage with impunity.

As we smile and tiptoe towards capitulation, I wonder if the Western world can survive another American Vietnam-style hangover.

Farah reminds us:

It didn't begin Sept. 11, 2001, or even with the first World Trade Center bombing or the Iranian revolution of 1979.
This is a war President Jefferson fought.
This is a war that led to Christopher Columbus' voyage west and, ultimately, the discovery of America.
This is a war that nearly led to the conquest of Europe before that.
And it may well lead to the conquest of Europe in the 21st century.
As I have said before, it would not be inaccurate to say this conflict has defined world history for the last 1,300 years.

In the 20th century, we witnessed the high cost of appeasement. We saw it with Nazi Germany. We saw it with the Soviet Union. We saw it with Communist China. And, lately, we see it in the Middle East and in the war with jihadism.

Turning 53

It seems like only yesterday that I was bummed-out about turning 50. Birthdays always make me take stock of my life and once again I'm reminded that my life has turned out nothing like I expected. I like being me and I'd trade with no one, but there are some key elements missing in my past and present whose absence I regret. But the bed in which I lie is of my own design and I've been constructing it for many years.

Perhaps the best thing about being a Christian is that while we pay for our mistakes, we pay only in this life.

The course of a life pivots on both split-second decisions and time-worn habits. But my life's destination was determined on a Thursday night back in the fall of 1963, when I walked down an aisle and repeated Peter's good confession to an old preacher named Mr. Grubb. A few minutes later Mr. Grubb's gnarled old hands lowered me into the waters of the Jerome Christian Church baptistry. But I believe another pair of Hands helped lift me up. And through every triumph, every bad decision, every good deed, and every thoughtless act, those Hands have never let go of me.

I'll sing to you Lord, a hymn of love,
For your faithfulness to me.
I'm carried in Everlasting Arms,
You've never let me go, through it all.
Defining Irony

Intensifying a war of words over a U.S. troop buildup in Iraq, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi accused President Bush Friday of playing politics with soldiers' lives, a charge the White House called "poisonous."

"The president knows that because the troops are in harm's way that we won't cut off the resources," Pelosi, head of the Democratic-led House, told ABC's "Good Morning America. "That's why he's moving so quickly to put them in harm's way."
http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2007/1/19/161824.shtml?s=ic

I'm sorry, but the thought of any Democrat levelling the charge of playing politics with soldiers' lives is a little more than I can stomach.

Soon after Saddam was forced into a hole, the Democrats began playing politics with soldiers' lives, encouraging the enemy by sabotaging our President's efforts to protect us at home, and undermining the war on terror abroad. Radical Islam has found an ally in the Democrat Party - all because of their willingness to play politics with soldiers' lives.

Stumble Stones

Berta Spiegel, whose maiden name was Scheuer, and her husband, Josef Spiegel, ran a sporting goods shop at 6 Buccheimer St. in the Cologne suburb of Muelheim. The couple was "deported," the Nazi euphemism for removal of Jews from Germany, to Theresienstadt concentration camp, located in the present-day Czech Republic. They died there. Berta on Feb. 16, 1942, Josef on Aug. 7, 1942.

They are called stolpersteine -- stumble stones. They are meant to trip memory.

Each is a brass plaque measuring about 4 by 4 inches and hand-engraved by artist Gunter Demnig with the name and a few terse details of someone lost to the Holocaust. Each stumble stone is set permanently into the sidewalk outside the place where the individual lived, laughed, and loved -- usually a house or apartment building and sometimes a shop or office. http://www.boston.com/news/world/europe/articles/2007/01/13/in_germany_singular_remembrances/

And that's all that's left of a life. A stumble stone. 64 years later, so little has changed.

Senators Plot to Defeat President, Not Terrorism

WASHINGTON (AP) - A group of senators including a Republican war critic announced agreement Wednesday on a resolution opposing President Bush's 21,500 troop build up in Iraq, setting their marker for a major clash between the White House and Congress over the unpopular war.

The picture above speaks volumes. Cassius and Brutus.

From the beginning the Democrats have worked to sabotage our President's efforts to protect us at home and fight terrorism in Afghanistan and Iraq - all for the sake of politics. How many American soldiers were killed by terrorists who were encouraged by the efforts of the "loyal opposition" to undermine the war effort?

I was listening to Limbaugh a few days ago and a caller asked him what it would take for the Democrats to quit playing politics and start supporting the war on terror. Limbaugh answered, "About three more attacks."

MLK Day

I was listening yesterday to the Peter Heck Show - a daily habit of mine - and heard Mr. Heck read a quote one of Martin Luther King's speeches. The words were powerful, Biblical, and inspiring. There was nothing there that a good Christian would not embrace.

Heck always speaks of King as one of his favorite American leaders, but I've noticed that he pretty much sticks with the "words and ideas" in the speeches - and handles the legacy, and those that followed King in a much different way.

Ah. That's the trouble we conservatives have with MLK. That's the problem we have with a man that - perhaps more than any other - helped America to "grow up" and "live up" to its belief that all men are created equal. Not only is the socialism of the Great Society forever linked with the Civil Rights movement - it is accompanied also with the destruction of the African-American family as well, something that MLK never intended. Quotas and Affirmative Action are not mentioned in the his speeches, but they are as much a part of the movement as ending segregation. Busing and MLK's anti-Vietnam rhetoric are also issues that conservatives must deal with.

So every January Blacks and Whites, Conservatives and Liberals, join for a moment to celebrate a man - a metamorphosis in America's character - and an ideal that held promise. But the legacy and so many realities will always remain a place to part ways.

Ellison Watch... part deux

Representative Keith Ellison (D-MN) has been named to the House Judiciary Committee. Ellison said in a statement: “I look forward to pursuing a progressive agenda in the committee, including the restoration of American citizen’s civil liberties that have come under increasing attack over the past six years.”

The American citizens Ellison, the nation’s first Muslim congressman, has in mind are likely Muslims who charge that they have been subjected to unjust scrutiny and inconvenience in the aftermath of 9/11. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) shares this view: she has announced her intention to “correct the Patriot Act,” and wants to criminalize scrutiny of Muslims at airports and elsewhere: “Since September 11, many Muslim Americans have been subjected to searches at airports and other locations based upon their religion and national origin. We must make it illegal.” Helping make it illegal with Ellison on the House Judiciary Committee will be John Conyers (D-MI), the new chairman of that committee. “The policies of the Bush administration,” he has declared, “have sent a wave of fear through our immigrant communities and targeted our Arab and Muslim neighbors.”

http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=26388

I thought we were targeting them so that they wouldn't target us.

What were the Democrats thinking - putting Ellison on the Judiciary Committee? He could have done much more damage on the Committee for Homeland Security, the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, or the House Armed Services Committee.
And I didn't realize that American Muslims had been subjected to unjust scrutiny and inconvenience. Well that changes everything! And this "wave of fear through our immigrant communities" can't be good.
I think we can all be grateful that the Democrats finally "get it" and intend to protect young males of Middle Eastern descent from the terrible evil that is America.

Family guy

This may be how liberals see radical Islam.

News From The Democratic Underground

CREATORS) -- The purpose of this old-fashioned newspaper crusade to stop the war is not to make George W. Bush look like the dumbest president ever. People have done dumber things. What were they thinking when they bought into the Bay of Pigs fiasco? How dumb was the Egypt-Suez war? How massively stupid was the entire war in Vietnam? Even at that, the challenge with this misbegotten adventure is that WE simply cannot let it continue.

It is not a matter of whether we will lose or we are losing. We have lost.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/

Congrats to the Dems. They have used the media to perfection, stoked the morale of the enemy - and have not only beaten the Republicans and their President, but they have also defeated the finest military force on the face of the planet. Well done.

It's clear that radical Islam will wait us out in Iraq. And after the bloodbath Iraq will become anther Iran - another threat to Israel, the United States, Europe, mankind...

So hunker down, my friends. The only force capable of turning the Islamic tide that is sweeping across the world has announced its defeat. I shudder to think what it would take to summon its rise again.

It's hard to be a conservative these days. But the future will be hardest upon all those feel-good liberals... when evil responds to weakness the way evil always does.

Mulato vs. Malotto

And the winner is...

45 year-old Barack Obama may be both very smart and a talented politician, but shouldn' the leader of the free world be in better shape than a pudgy 52 year-old from Indiana?

The entire staff at Malott's Blog has to go with the pudgy Hoosier.

This is Not Attractive.
I think we should all strive for self-control in our eating habits... But weight loss should stop somewhere short of making us appear like a survivor of Auschwitz.
Someone get this little girl a cheeseburger.
Ohio State vs. Michigan

Erik Kuselias works for ESPN radio and in November and December he went on and on about how Ohio State and Michigan should be allowed a rematch for the National Championship. His most memorable lines were: "They are obviously the two best teams in college football." And: "Don't you want to see the two best teams in college football play?"

Southern Cal 32
Michigan 18

Florida 41
Ohio St 14

Obviously, Erik Kuselias was wrong. You obviously can't judge teams from different conferences by their conference play.

But the problem today is that it isn't at all obvious that Florida is better than Southern Cal because they haven't played. And until there is a tournament in college football, there will be no champion... but rather just a yearly coronation by the sportswriters.

Joltin' Joe Biden (pause to yawn) Announces

On Sunday Sen. Joe Biden [smiling under his hair plugs] told NBC’s “Meet the Press” that he will seek the Democratic presidential nomination in 2008.

“I am running for president,” he told “Meet the Press” anchor Tim Russert. “I’m going to be Joe Biden, and I’m going to try to be the best Biden I can be. If I can, I got a shot. If I can’t, I lose.”

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11442718/

What? The best Biden? What does that mean? Not that it ultimately matters, but what does it mean?

If a huge ego, a desperate need for attention, and long-windedness were prerequisites for political success, Biden could be King.

The guy hasn't a chance - and I think he knows it. But I believe national politicians are sometimes quite willing to use other people's money to get some attention and feel like a big shot for a while. Go for it, Joe.
A Cat Lover I Can Respect

JANUARY 5--A Tennessee man who kept 114 dead cats and a dead German Shepherd named Snowy in three freezers is suing police for seizing and destroying the frosty animal carcasses, which, he claims, had "emotional value" to him and were destined for a pet cemetery he was building.
http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/years/2007/0105073cats1.html

If every American enthusiastically shared the ambition to have 114 dead cats in his freezer, we could have this country in ship-shape by Valentine's Day.

The Seeds of Hatred

This is a ten minute video highlighting what Israel faces on a daily basis, and also focuses on the brainwashing of Palestinian children.

It is incredible that the United Nations continues to side with this culture of death over the civilized, western values of Israel.

Whether it's raping in Africa, corruption in the oil-for-food program, or in this case - lending legitimacy to a horrific use of children that should be universally condemned - the U.N. continues to illustrate its absurdity and worthlessness.

When Bloggers Taunt

Christmas is a time of "good will towards men." But cat lovers - like other minions of Satan - often prefer to use it in an unholy and cruel way.

Cat lover Christina, of The Right Perspective, and her brutish husband gave me a desk calendar for Christmas which contains daily demonic and frightening pictures of cats of all breeds and levels of feline degradation. Are the images shocking? Oh yes. Yes they are. I just hope I can sleep tonight.

Last March, during what has come to be known as The Great Cat Conflict of 2006, it was I who played the role of peacemaker when I wrote:

Though our emotions and disagreements run deep, perhaps the whole world can pray that the Two-Day Cat Conflict of 2006 has forged a new understanding between peoples and pets of every race, species, and creed... that even with wounds yet healing, we might struggle up from the morass that so recently consumed us... and beat our swords into leashes and our spears into litter boxes... and study blogwar no more.

But, though I once again I find myself the victim of callous Christina and her boorish oaf of a husband, I will not sink to their level and call them snivelling cat trash, though I would be totally justified (and accurate) in doing so. I simply refuse to do it.

So with true Christmas Spirit - and clean hands - I again take the higher road.

God bless us, every one.

Meanwhile in Washington...

The gray van slowly makes its way down Pennsylvania Avenue on a cool afternoon in the nation's capitol. Beads of sweat form on the young Saudi's head as be glances at the small nuclear device behind him. With a shout of "Allah Akbar!" he detonates the device.

In less than a second the President, Vice President, Speaker of the House, and most of Congress die in a fiery explosion.

Who will lead our country back from the brink? Who will step in and thwart the evil that threatens us?

Well... Back in Wheeling, West Virgina Senator Robert C. Byrd has just cut the ribbon, opening the recently built - at taxpayer expense - "Robert C. Byrd Aerobic Gym and Tanning Center."

As President Pro Tempore of the Senate the 89-year-old former Klansman is third in the line of presidential succession.

Upon hearing the news of the attack and his sudden rise to power, Byrd exclaims "I have a little dog, a Maltese dog, Billy Byrd."

Ellison Watch

The new Muslim Congressman from Minnesota’s 5th District, Keith Ellison, infiltrates Congress this week, and so he will be made privy to all sorts of secrets that jihad-sympathetic contributors to his campaign would love to get their hands on.

Thank you, Minnesota.

Gee, Ellison's history with Louis Farrakhan, or the support he received from the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) might have influenced my vote. But the fact that he spoke to the North American Imams Federation (NAIF) shortly before six imams coming from the conference were removed from a U.S. Airways flight headed to Arizona - well that would have cinched it for me.

It will be interesting to note on which committees the fair-minded multicultural Democrat Leadership will place him. How about the U.S House of Representatives Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence? The House Armed Services Committee? The Committee on Homeland Security?

Front Page Mag asks:

When Congressman Ellison places his hand on the Quran, to which people is he swearing an oath to protect? Is it the American public – many of which went blindly into the voting booths to choose him – or is it his friends, our enemies?
Ellison needs to be given a chance to prove himself a patriot. He also needs to be watched.

People's Cube Breaks Another Big Story

It is an undeniable scientific fact that the pro-embryonic-stem-cell spot that Michael J. Fox did for Missouri Senate candidate Claire McCaskill was effective in the case of at least one person - Claire McCaskill - who has made medical history by winning a seat in the Senate because of it. Now it's time for the Democrats to return the favor and arrange a sweeping victory for the funding of embryonic stem cell research.

It is especially important because now Fox has apparently decided that settling for Parkinson's alone is for wimps, and if he wants to be a truly progressive victim he also needs the brain tumor that embryonic stem cells create.

Yet another big story that the mainstream media chooses to ignore.

Take My Imam... Please

LONDON -- Have you heard the joke about how Santa Claus passed out during a visit to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's house in Tehran? He was filling an unwashed presidential sock with presents when he was overcome by the smell.
For millions of Iranians, humor is proving the perfect way to let off steam, and jokes focusing on Mr. Ahmadinejad's purported lack of personal hygiene have begun to proliferate via text messages and e-mails. Most are the work of supporters of Iran's fractured reformist movement, which remains marginalized despite signs of a comeback in a recent vote for district councils.

...members of the president's personal staff say the boss likes a joke as much as anyone else. However, rumor has it that Mr. Ahmadinejad took umbrage recently at a joke claiming that he needed to shower more often. The gag was brought to his attention, not via Iran's formidable secret intelligence services, but in a misdirected text message. In response, he is said to have lodged an official complaint with the judiciary.

According to Rooz Online, a pro-reformist Web site, a senior official with the country's mobile phone network was fired and several others arrested and accused of being foreign spies.

If I was a malcontent in Iran - and I would be a malcontent if in Iran - I wouldn't bet my health or my family's health on the assumption that a tyrannical Muslim leader-zealot would had a sense of humor.

Peace Train

Have a Happy and Vigilant New Year.

Holidays' End

Happy New Year. I celebrated by sleeping in this morning until 5 AM. Once again the calendar year changed quite efficiently without my monitoring.

This year the Holidays were pretty lousy for me, and I got a glimpse of my future. Not only did I work the 24th 25th and 26th - which was bad enough - but my mother went into the hospital on Christmas Eve with a mini-stroke. (Her confidence seems a bit shaken, but other than that she is doing fine.) Because of her illness and other ilnesses in the family, there was no family get-together this year... And Christmas just kind of passed by.

There were actually a couple moments there when I was a little depressed and lonely. I clumsily reached out to a couple people - but that only left me feeling a little foolish, depressed, and lonely.

A few years ago I ran into a friend right after Thanksgiving. I knew he had just gotten a divorce, so I asked him what he had done for the holiday. He said he'd washed dishes at a mission in Indianapolis. He said it was one of the best Thanksgivings he'd ever had... and that he'd met a lot of great people who had also volunteered. So... I guess that's what good single people do during the Holidays.

Being single has many blessings. But don't bother trying to explain that to anyone with a spouse and kids - You inevitably come across like someone who is trying to explain to a soccer fan why soccer is boring. I'm sure a happy marriage is wonderful, but I have the freedom to do pretty much anything I want... and that can be kind of nice, too.

The trick is - figuring out what really gives us joy. I think my friend got it right.

Happy New Year.
