A Dame ShameToday the University of Notre Dame dishonored Christ by honoring Barack Obama, a man who fanatically supports the killing of the weakest among us. This so-called Catholic institution has identified and embraced its lord.

I'm just too disgusted for words.

That's just one more honor he's received that he doesn't deserve.

Notre Dame should fire it's president who invited POTUS especially given this is a private, parochial university. President Obama's stance regarding Abortion and Stem Cell Research are in gross conflict with the teachings of the Catholic church, of which Notre Dame is a part.

Yes, the president of the university should indeed be fired.

I agree Chris...

Are you going to remove the sign you have at the bottom of your stairs?

I've wanted to post about this subject since it doesn't get much more local than this for me, but to be perfectly honest, I'm not sure what to say.

On the one hand, I totally agree with the pro-life protesters and those upset that Obama was invited and then given an honorary degree. It flies in the face of traditional Catholic values and it would seem that universities don't get much more "Catholic" than Notre Dame.

On the other hand, when more than half of professed Catholics voted for Obama for president, knowing full well his very radical stance on abortion, then I have to wonder why they are suddenly so upset? I found myself wondering where all the priests and nuns were during the protests. Heck, even ND's president welcomed Obama with open arms, as well as his message.

It was also tough to know exactly what to think about those who did show up to protest. I tend to disagree with the tactics that were used. For weeks, those around the ND area were subjected to very graphic images on posters, large panel trucks and even a very persistent plane that trailed a graphic banner. As an adult, I can understand those images, but I really didn't relish the idea of trying to explain them to my 4.5 year old.

I also have a problem with Alan Keyes tactic of purposefully breaking the law by trespassing, not once, but twice. He would have been just as effective by standing just outside the gates (and more visible to passersby) than he was sitting in jail. While the message is certainly noble, breaking the law wasn't necessary.

I didn't listen to Obama's speech, but I did hear the clip of him saying that we all need to work together to reduce the number of abortions. This leads me to ask, "If there is nothing wrong with abortion, then why do we want to reduce the number of them?"

You can't have it both ways, and that goes for Obama and Notre Dame.

Christina, you couldn't be more dead-on. This is the whole reason they were out of their minds to invite him. Scripture teaches Christian's to avoid scandal and I think this is a perfect example of why. Of all the people in the world, could they not find someone who would have been unscandalously edifying to speak at the graduation?????? Are there no real heros?? Did they not know that this would spawn a circus that would not draw anyone to Christ? Did they not know that it would encourage anger, division and gloating? They just shouldn't have done it, but now that they have, they are weaker than ever and it's a glaring green light for all sorts of anti-christian activists encouraging them to belly up to the liberal trough that is Notre Dame.
