Humility

The real test of the saint is not preaching the gospel, but washing disciples' feet, that is, doing the things that do not count in the actual estimate of men but count everything in the estimate of G_d.

Oswald Chambers

I honestly believe that we are clueless as to what is really going on around us. Most of my day I remain "in character," but as I get older I find my eyes drifting from the stage, seeking the reassuring face of the Director.

Really good post...reminds me of one of my covenants on the current list...to look for ways to meet specific needs in the lives of those around me. It's hard to look oustide the bubble of what affects me directly and sometimes even harder to put aside what I had planned to help someone else, but I know that selfishness is no good...so I'm trying to do some "foot washing" when I can. This is a really good reminder to keep doing it more and more.

Bekah,

In no way do I have a "naturally occuring" servant's heart. But I'm working on it, too.

This was part of my devotions this morning... I'm using Chamber's "My Utmost for His Highest."

He suggests that humble service is the greatest in God's eyes.
