Meaningless Romney Win

Slate calls the GOP race "muddled." CBS News says it's now cloudy. MSNBC says Romney's showing "points to a Republican party that is adrift."

I think it points to a candidate that can win in November... And that's the problem the mainstream media has with it.

The Liberals prefer McCain and Huckabee because they are likely losers... And if they can pee on Romney's parade... They will.

Chris:

Although I'm a Fred Thompson fan, you have struck to the core of why none of the conservative candidates (Romney,Thompson) are getting the credit or press they should be.

Well, at least they acknowledge Romney???

Sigh

But the Republican Party is adrift. From the abject-loser position the MSM wants it to be in. Pity the poor, "objective" reporters whose glee was dashed to pieces by a Romney win in Michigan. They're going to need therapy.

What's the consensus opinion on the GOP race now from y'all? Would you describe this< as muddled?

Mojo,

It may look muddled at this point, because every state is different. But so far, most of the states have had open primaries, and McCain was expected to do better in those states (not sure if So. Carolina is open or not).

The upcoming states have closed primaries, so the results may vary.

As for the overall picture, that isn't a muddle at all. Hugh Hewitt has a running total chart of delegates at the top of his blog, and that nails things down pretty well. Romney is in the lead.

I don't doubt that Romney will get the nomination, but to believe that arguing his 3 wins in 6 states (one of which is heavily Mormon) can only be evidence of a ploy by the "Liberal Media" is just silly. Especially when you consider the truism that no candidate has won the nomination without winning at least Iowa or New Hampshire before. There's plenty of evidence that Republican voters are very split on their best choice. I mean, Huckabee even won a state!

Is it still Romney's parade right now, guys -- after Florida? It's getting less and less "muddled" these days as Romney racks up win after... oh, never mind.

And whatever happened to Fred Thompson? He apparently made the mistake of listening to all the Republicans who said they'd support him if he ran for president. In some polls, wasn't he the front-runner or second to Giuliani?

And what's happened to Mayor McCheese, too?

Fickle electorate. How many guys are going to be the front-runner in this GOP race? Nope, it's not muddled at all -- it's just the "liberal media" plotting destruction... again.
