The Kentucky "One and Dones" Are Done
Kentucky freshmen Eric Bledsoe, John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins could all be one-and-done players.
“I don’t think it’s the best way to go about things right now, to force kids who have no interest in being in college, to come to college for a year,” Georgetown coach John Thompson III said.
Kentucky Coach John Calipari of UMass Scandal Fame... and Memphis Scandal Fame... has the reputation of being dirty. And he is also known for recruiting basketball players that have no interest in a college education... The One and Dones who play the required one year of college ball and then jump to the NBA.
Kentucky basketball has a history of scandal, so Calipari is a perfect fit.
Bob Knight said of Calipari, "You see we've got a coach at Kentucky who put two schools on probation and he's still coaching. I really don't understand that."
Well tonight John Calipari and his "One and Dones" lost in the NCAA tournament and missed what was thought to be a sure trip to the Final Four in Indianapolis.
Good!
Butler, a small university in Indianapolis graduates over 80% of its basketball players, and beat Kansas State today to make it to the Final Four. Kentucky graduates less than 40% of its players and is headed home to Lexington. Occasionally there is justice.
