Rev Joseph Lowry Sums it Up

"....help us work for that day when black will not be asked to give back, when brown can stick around, when yellow will be mellow, when the red man can get ahead, man, and when white will embrace what is right..."

Lovely prayer. Obviously we Whites have not been doing right.

So us typical white people, the only race criticized in the benediction, still have a ways to go...

Just keep us informed of our sins and our responsibilities, will you Barack?

Thanks!

And I thought the race card was dead.

When I heard that "prayer", I was so offended, but not surprised.

Yes, clearly racism is dead.

MLK is probably rolling over in his grave at this atrocity.

President Barack Hussein Obama.

You must be having conniptions by now, no?

No, yellow is criticized too. They need to mellow out some...

Jacob,

No conniptions here. Obama hasn't done anything except invite boring poets and offensive preachers (you can take your pick which one was offensive) to his inauguration. And tonight he'll be partying at soirees paid for by many of the companies the taxpayers have bailed out. Annoying, yes. Conniption material, not yet.

There's always tomorrow for Obama to do something that will make us flip out.

Except that for about a year or two the main pillar (if you will) of his anti-Obama position has been that he's a big Muslim who hates America, and apple pies and grandma. And that wife of his! Eurgh!

And so on.

I'll stick to this prayer from the old Episcopal 1928 Book of Common Prayer. It's not as funky, but it I love it:

O Lord our Governor, whose glory is in all the world; We commend this nation to thy merciful care, that being guided by thy Providence, we may dwell secure in thy peace. Grant to the President of the United States, and to all in authority, wisdom and strength to know and to do thy will. Fill them with the love of truth and righteousness; and make them ever mindful of their calling to serve this people in thy fear; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Ghost, one God, now and forever. Amen

Jacob,

The only flipping out I saw was by the young woman who lives with me. She's black, just so you know it's not racism. Her only comments about the inauguration were along the lines of, "Could Michelle Obama wear anything more freakin' ugly than that puke yellow?"

After she came home from cosmetology school, she reported that the other girls at the school agreed that Michelle Obama has horrible style. Then she lost it when my daughter informed her that Michelle was wearing lime green gloves with her yellow outfit.

As far as Barack, most of the conservatives I hear (radio hosts, but I don't listen to Rush Limbaugh) are taking a wait-and-see, hope-for-the-best approach to his presidency.

I know - the big bird outfit was a little funny. But I loved it! I'm excusing the green gloves because they were matched with the Jimmy Choo pumps, which I derived enormous satisfaction from.

Oh god, I am such a faggot.
