The Weekend Palin

I've never seen anything like this, and I've been watching politics since 1968. I've never seen such hatred as has been displayed by the far left for Sarah Palin.

The latest example is the far-left Jewish comedian Sarah Bernhard. You can watch it here, but I must warn you that it contains very foul language.

Is it simply Palin's effect on the polls?

Is it that she is a pro-life woman? Is it that she is an Evangelical Christian... If McCain had chosen Huckabee, who believes much like Palin, I doubt the far left would be so filled with rage.

Her lack of experience on the national stage might be a talking point, but I doubt it would explain the hatred.

You don't see this caliber of personal attacks on the conservative front.

And it's aimed at the vice presidential candidate? Unprecedented... And very disturbing. Can anyone explain this?

Libs hate it when things they do and say are turned on them. Since Obama has no major accomplishments in his life, no real track record other than voting 'present' 130 times in the Illinois Senate, and no clear solutions to problems; it is obvious that he is running on charisma and the color of his skin.

When Palin comes on the scene, even though she has a more impressive list of accomplishments, libs flip out at the notion that people would vote for her just because of her charisma and gender.

Because of Palin's re-energizing the GOP base, she has basically stolen from Dems what they view as their right - an anointing to the presidency. Instead, they have to work their butts off to obtain it and they might not succeed.

Libs also tend to believe the cr*p they spew. They throw around a few times that she is another Bush and now they believe it and transfer their suffering of Bush Derangement Syndrome to Palin.

Bernhardt (and most others) who choose a lifestyle that goes against the laws of G-d DO NOT like it when someone who follows that which G-d desires runs for a national office.

Aside from that, Bernhardt's just rude sometimes. (Hey, I'm trying to be nice!)

Don't see this calibre of attacks on the Right? Oh, please. Have you forgotten that the Republicans were handing out money with a picture of Obama dressed like a militant Muslim at their convention?

It goes both ways, and both sides are equally catty around election time.

Bethany,

What you say is true... But I'm not talking catty. I'm talking venomous hatred from the far lunatic Left.

I really don't understand it, although AICS summed it up pretty well, I think.

I see hatred from the far right as just as venomous... ;-)

Bethany,

Attacking a candidate's voting record or public statements is never venomous. Attacking the person is.

Most of the attacks I've seen against Obama are about his record (voted "present" a heck of a lot, never met a tax increase he didn't like, income redistribution, and other viewpoints that are repugnant to the right), his public scorn against Middle America (bitter clinging, arugula), and whether or not he's really a "born citizen" of the US. His wife has been attacked for her public statements.

Where's the venom?

Meanwhile, the left has gone after Palin for doing what the left has for decades called on women to do. The left wants women to have careers, to the point of promoting more day care centers so more women can work. But when Palin has a career in addition to having children, the left attacks her for it and says she's not a real woman.

How is that NOT venom?

The attacks on Palin are primarily personal. The attacks on Obama are primarily policy-related. I don't see that as being the same thing.

So when you Republicans criticize, it's constructive. When Liberals do it, it's "venomous"...gotcha... :-p

You folks crack me up. I can see now why this blog made FSTDT ;-)

Bethany,

Not all criticism is venom. Criticism of policies is acceptable. Ad hominem attacks are not. Most of the criticisms of Palin are ad hominem.

I condemn the ad hominem attacks of Obama as well. His policies and speeches give us plenty to criticize without having to resort to hitting below the belt.

BTW, I visited your blog. You don't allow comments, which was disappointing. Interesting about Ray Boltz. A good friend of mine is a big fan of his, but his music isn't my type.

Yeah...Ray Boltz coming out made my day, just like when good ol' Ted Haggard got caught with his little friend. :-p It's like, SURPRISE! Next I'm waiting for Pat Robertson's scandal..I'm putting my money on meth and illegal click fraud ring. ;-)

It saddens me anytime someone stops struggling against sin. When a person stops struggling against the urge to steal, another person loses something they own. When a person stops struggling against their urge to go over the speed limit, they risk getting a ticket or worse; hitting someone. When a person stops struggling agains the urge to kill, another person loses their life.

In Ray Boltz case, he stopped fighting one of several sexual temptations, and lost his marriage, his family, and since it is a "willing sin", salvation is lost to him as well.

Hebrews 6:4-6 It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age, if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance, because to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace.

Eh. I don't see the Bible as completely true, so I don't see homosexuality as a sin, so whatever.

Ray Boltz needs to be happy. I am thrilled he is finally free...hiding a burden like that is awful. God bless him and his family.
