Picture Contest

Name this structure and the activity surrounding it and you will win... my respect and admiration. No, really!

Some people look out their back window and see mountains, or maybe the ocean. I get this.

Wow, that's a nice view of the Greentown water tower you've got.

Not many people can claim that special view as theirs alone.

What, exactly, are they doing to it? Is it getting a make-over? Will it soon be sporting a new hairstyle and fashionable clothes?

One can only hope....

Funny, I thought it was a traveling exhibit from Roswell, New Mexico, home of the famous UFO Museum (which I have visited, but not on my most recent trip).

How disappointing if Christina turns out to be right...

I'm a little embarrassed to wade in here, since I'm afraid Christina may be right, but...

My first guess was that this was a picture of Chris' prom date from high school. It wasn't even the lack of arms that caused me to rethink my theory. In fact, it wasn't until I noticed the trees that are much shorter and the distinct lack of any facial features whatsoever that I decided that my initial instinct was probably incorrect.

Plus, the picture is in color. I think we all know they were still etching portraits on cave walls when Chris was in high school.

Andrew,
Considering my present situation, and now that you've put the thought in my head, I must confess that the water tower is starting to look good to me. Those long lines... Those curves.

I believe they're spray-painting it and the cover is either to make the finished product a surprise for everyone... or it's meant to protect surrounding homes and cars from wafting particles of paint.

You are so wrong christopher. It is wearing a burqa. Islam has come to your neighborhood.

Well, this is most unfortunate. Although I didn't really mean any of the comments in my previous post, I was hoping to get under the skin of our honorable host. Why you ask? Because on another thread he recently made a derogatory comment about my personal hygiene (suggesting I was "smelly") - as if I don't bathe at least every other week.

Much to my dismay, however, Mr. Malott seems to have taken my comments in stride. Drat. Well played, Mr. Malott, well played.

Back to the drawing board...

Mary,

Good thought! What a creative answer.

However, when burquas become fashionable (read: mandatory) in Greentown, or as I like to call it, Mayberry, then we will know that America has lost the war.

Long live Greentown!!
