Malott Interviews God!
Malott: I've never interviewed anyone before in my life... Talk about starting at the top!
G_d: And I'm thrilled beyond words to contribute to such a clever and influential blog.
M: ... ... ... You're making fun of me a little now, aren't you?
G: Maybe a little. Did you expect me to be nicer? You know, what's good for you isn't always nice.
M: Uh... I've made up a list of questions. First of all... Heaven: Mountain chalet or beachfront bungalow?
G: Heaven will be full of surprises. Remember, you'll be coming from a world that is sorely limited by three dimensions and time. You've noticed that I'm not wearing a wrist watch? Time is peculiar to this created universe.
M: OK ... ... ... Are you right-handed or left-handed?
G: Ambidextrous. The vastness of my created universe is mere symbolism, in a sense. You can lie in your hammock at night, look up into the heavens and sense the hidden reality... You can look up and see the mirror image of your eternal soul. I've even placed stars to light your way. If you knew me, your temporary world would seemingly lack substance when compared to my more concrete, eternal realities...
M: You mentioned surprises. Is this... like Christmas?
G: Surprises and revelations. You'll learn about the incredible power in a child's prayer, and how the simplest faith melts my heart... How all the grand plans, schemes, and devices of the religious are helpless without the movement of my Spirit. And most of all you'll finally comprehend the magnificence of my Sacrifice... My Sacrifice that singularly transformed the Church into... My beautiful bride.
M: Sounds way cool. But will we eat?
G: Yes ... ... ... You will. And you'll see how every prayer, every frightened and modest witness, every act of kindness, charity, done in my name - all blend together like the notes of a symphony, moving hearts and changing lives.
M: Mm Hmm ... ... ... Aardvarks! What happened?!
G: As an American believer, and among the rich of the world, you'll learn why it is easier for a camel to pass through a needle's eye - than it is for you to enter Heaven. So proud and independent... So much wasted time spent gazing into the faces of your idols... It begs the very limits of the patience!
M: Jesus!
G: Yes?
M: I mean... But we're not necessarily doomed, right?
G: Your sins pale next to the greatness and glory of my Sacrifice... which saves you.
M: And we'll learn all this... like... through telepathy...?
G: And you'll learn a great deal about yourself... What might have been had you been more focused on me than yourself.... Why your life is what it is.
M: Ah, my wonderful life... Why I'm alone and childless? I'm not complaining, but I think I would have loved being married.
G: You would have loved it too much. For instance, can you tell me one time when you were "in love" that you weren't transformed into a distracted, lustful, blithering buffoon?
M: ... ... ... Uh, I can edit this... Right?
G: And when did you ever love me that much? Just once I'd like to hear you tell me that I am enough for you... And really mean it. But then, you've spent your whole life searching for things to love more than me. You've wandered through life feeding upon every passing illusion... All the while starving - for me. You made me a distant caretaker... I wanted a love affair.
M: ... ... ... Riiiiight... Let's move on to politics. Can you tell me who will win the presidency this fall?
G: Yes, I can.
M: ... ... ... Can you... elaborate?
G: It will be the person I've picked to further my purposes and my plan.
M: Do you think of yourself as an American?
G: ... ... ... No... Your country serves its purpose, much as Rome did. Please understand, your country has moved to marginalize me... When in truth, your country's efforts have marginalized - your country. At some point you'll appreciate the cost of doing so.
M: Well there are those of us in the American Church who are really concerned about certain political issues...
G: Have you prayed about them?
M: Of course I've prayed!
G: (smiles)
M: Well I have prayed.
G: No, you've faithfully fretted and wrung your hands.
M: ... ... ... Well! Why should I pray when I can worry?! Ahhh ha ha ha ha ha!
G: Something else you'll never fully appreciate until you're in Heaven... The utter impertinence of worry. Its dissonance in my ear will startle you.
M: Hmm ... ... ... Well! ... I've take up enough of your time! You have a universe to run!
G: It's alright... You wouldn't believe how well I multi-task.
M: Oh! I'd believe it!
G: No... You wouldn't...
M: Yes... Well... Thank you so much for your time. I can't thank you enough! ... ... ... And you know, I ... ... ... ... Uh... ... ... You know...
G: Yes?
M: ... ... ... You really are enough for me... It's just that I... I...
G: I know...

Bottled Water
I read an interesting post about bottled water and the environment over at Skyepuppy's Blog. I commented there... And since I seem to have precious little to say lately... I thought I'd post my comment here.
File it under medical advice to consider:
In Indiana, some... maybe most... wells are tainted with herbicide and other agricultural run-off. I figure the farmers think, "If 30 gallons per acre is good, 100 must be great!"
Anyway, there is a high cancer rate around here, and the first thing patients are told is, "stop drinking well water."
I have a well, so I buy gallon jugs of "mountain spring water" from Sam's club to make my coffee and tea. I even use it to cook water absorbing foods like spaghetti, and also when I'm boiling beef or chicken for soup.
I'm not a "nut" about it. At work I drink water from the tap as well as when I eat out.
Now there may be a guy in New Jersey filling up these gallon jugs from his kitchen tap... But we do what we can.

Obama Seizes Coveted Mulatto Vote
White Democrats will have nothing to do with African-American presidential candidates unless they are half white and sound like Edward R. Murrow. Same with Hillary Clinton. Democrats only vote to nominate women who are half female and half white man.
This is in stark contrast to the Republicans' past efforts to draft Condoleeza Rice who is all black and all woman.
But who does Halle Berry, Mariah Carey, Thandie Newton, Vin Diesel, Grant Hill, Mya, and Faith Evans support? To the man (or woman) these individuals support Barrack Saddam Obama.
What has caused this Mulattobamamania?
Unlike Latin America, where mulattos make up a significant percentage of the population: Dominican Republic (73%), Cuba (51%), Brazil (38%), Puerto Rico (27%), Colombia (14%), and Panama (14%)... In America they are what is called a very minor minority... Except of course in poor neighborhoods where young black males and ugly white women are amazingly prolific.
With such small numbers, pride in one of their own and the resulting Obamanation was predictable.
So this humble (and obviously fearless) blog salutes this proud minority and wishes them a Ting Tang Obamulatto Bing Bang of an election cycle.

Happy Sexually-Transmitted Disease Day
It is a little know fact that 32% of the yearly infections of STD's occurs on February 14th and the wee hours of February 15th.
I was the only employee at my place of business to have Valentine's Day off. Ironic?
To be sure.
So I went cruising the Super Market for single women. Whenever I saw a female with a bare ring-finger pushing a cart my way, I would smile... And she would immediately shudder and look away. (Perhaps it was the black polyester slacks and tennis shoes.) Then I would return to perusing the frozen dinner section, trying to look lonely and pathetic... Not a significant stretch for me. I finally gave up and took my Marie Callendar dinners to the checkout. The new one I'm trying this week is "Herb Chicken."
So for me... It looks like another Valentine's Day alone... And disease free.

The Compromise
What would it take for me to vote for John McCain?
I still don't know what I will do in November. But there is but one way that McCain would get my vote. If the voice of the conservative movement, whose presence at this time resides primarily in talk radio and conservative blogs... If this voice would unite and scream in unison that we will vote for McCain one time... And one time only... And if this message went forth with the backing of every conservative pundit with a public forum to persuade America that McCain is at best - the lesser of two evils...
Then maybe I could vote for this little man.
I would need to see bumper stickers that said:
1) Elect him... Then Gut Him.
2) One Term John
3) Once John, But Never Again!
4) I'll hold my nose but once, Johnny!
5) McCain in '08, Someone We Respect in 2012
Then maybe I'd vote - knowing the ball would be in McCain's court. He could govern like the anti-conservative homunculus that he has personified over the last eight years, or he could work to secure our vote in '12 by living up to the many promises he has made during the nomination process.
If the voices of conservatism united to threaten this pretender with every caustic means at their disposal... To undercut him every time he swayed from his promises... To make him the ultimate anathema in U.S. presidential history... With the lowest approval ratings... The butt of every joke imagined by his less than loyal voters...
Then maybe. Maybe I'd vote for John-Boy.
That's what it would take.
We are probably doomed to a Clinton or Obama fiasco for four, or God forbid!... eight years... But if the conservative powers that be - unite to send a message... I might be persuaded to vote for the lesser of two evils... But it will have to be an "organized" capitulation... And threat....

The McCain Personna
Mona Charen writes about McCain for National review Online:
In 2000, he condemned the late Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson as “agents of intolerance.” In 2004, when Sen. John Kerry was getting his comeuppance from the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, vets whom he had known during the war and who couldn’t remain silent as the Democratic nominee distorted his war record, John McCain weighed in by calling them “dishonorable and dishonest.” When the Bush Administration was being vilified as a nest of Torquemadas for using waterboarding on three occasions, McCain came forward to condemn waterboarding as torture.
There is a strutting self-righteousness about McCain that goes hand-in-hand with a nitroglycerin temper. He flatters himself that his colleagues in the Senate dislike him because he stands up for principle, while they sell their souls for pork. Not exactly. He is disliked because on many, many occasions he has been disrespectful, belligerent, and vulgar to those who differ with him.
So conservatives don't like his liberal voting record... And, as soon as he secures the nomination and his "friends" in the mainstream media have their patsy candidate - and start unloading on him... The moderates and independents will fear his temperament.
While it's true that anything can happen... I fear that Republicans have picked a sure loser.

To Embrace McCain
I think we are all catching our breath, trying to understand how this trainwreck happened. How did we end up with the one Republican candidate least likely to unite the party? Most of us simply don't know what we're going to do in November.
How did it happen?
I think it started with Fred Thompson's reluctance... And then his inability to shed the "lazy" monicer.
Of course, Mike Huckabee happened. Obviously, Chuck Norris had more influence on the Huckabee sophisticates than Michelle Malkin, Laura Ingraham, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, and the entire staff at The National Review... combined!
Who knew?
But you have to hand it to Huckabee... This squirrelly little guy from Arkansas, who never had a chance at the nomination... Who cleverly grabbed the Evangelicals and torpedoed perhaps the one Republican that could have united the party... Successfully defeating Romney because he didn't try to run the most liberal state in the nation as the reincarnation of Lester Maddox.
And Mitt... A little too stiff... A little too slow to attack the liberal record of McCain.
And just- who are - these McCain supporters? The irascible curmudgeon, liberal-rearend -kissing constituency?
Conservatives are left with no good options.
We rally to McCain and we become the Republican version of the Democrat Black voter... who toes the line and never realizes promises from our party. And McCain will lose, anyway.
But left will be a Party that knows it can count on us no matter who they nominate.
I think McCain will get the Huckabee voters... Their candidate has been slobbering all over McCain since the race began. But the Romney conservatives? They're the thinkers, the true conservatives... And we will be harder to convince.

A Great Candidate...
With our current crop of poor choices and their promise of mediocrity and decline... It's nice to remember the man that revived a nation.
Huckabee... The Weasel's True Colors Shine Forth
Have you wondered why Huckabee always attacks Mitt Romney and not the frontrunner, John McCain?
Huckabee said this morning that he would run as McCain's vice president if asked.
SURPRISE, SURPRISE! I'm sure the poor innocents who were naive enough to believe that Huckabee was for Conservatives and conservative principles - will be too stupid or blind to see that Mike Huckabee - all along - has been just for Mike Huckabee.
And more good news for Obama or Hillary... James Dobson says he won't be voting for McCain.

McCain Picks running Mate!
My sources have discovered that John McCain has picked Bob Dole to be his running mate in the presidential election. Evidently McCain first announced to his staff that Gerald Ford was his choice, but after being reminded that Ford is dead, reluctantly, and after much argument, switched to Dole.
Well, it doesn't really matter who he picks, now does it. After he wins the nomination, his "friends" in the mainstream media will immediately start referring to his age and his seemingly "unstable temperament"... Recalling the time he cursed his friends over the "Amnesty Bill"... etc.
I think it's time we all got used to the idea of a President Barrack Hussein Obama.
McCain's most ardent admirer - Mike Huckabee - who has been running for vice president since Iowa... Running interference for McCain... Slinging mud upon his only viable opponent, Mitt Romney... I suspect Mike will be summarily dismissed to sadly return to Arkansas where he will quell his pain by feeding mightily upon grits and possum.
McCain, lacking charisma and appeal, will shuffle into the debates... Looking like death warmed over... the monkey of his anti-conservative history securely ensconsed upon his back... Fumbling through his responses... All beautifully (yes, beautifully)contrasted with Obama's eloquence...
Well... It is SO OVER.
Here is my advice for conservatives in 2012: And realize, this is after the healthcare system is destroyed... The appointment of activist liberal judges has set the pro-life movement back at least two generations... Gay Marriage is a reality... Amnesty for illegals is law... And an encouraged Radical Islam is poised at our gates...
1) When the media says that our best candidate is "lazy"... Rally around that candidate.
2) When Bill Buckley's "National Review" picks its most conservative and viable candidate... Pay attention.
3) Look to conservative leaders like Michelle Malkin, Hugh Hewitt, Glenn Beck, Laura Ingraham, and Rush Limbaugh... Before hitching your wagon to cute little populists from the south... Or frolicking with other fringe candidates that cannot win.
And some time before then, watch the movie - "The Natural" - and embrace the words of Roy Hobbs when he says, "Go pick me out a winner, Bobby."

McCain's Temper
"The thought of his being president sends a cold chill down my spine," Sen. Thad Cochran (R-Miss.), also a senior member of the Appropriations panel, told the Boston Globe recently. "He is erratic. He is hotheaded. He loses his temper and he worries me."
A former colleague says McCain's abrasive nature would, at minimum, make his relations with Republicans on Capitol Hill uneasy if he were to become president. McCain could find himself the victim of Republicans who will not go the extra mile for him on legislative issues because of past grievances.
"John was very rough in the sandbox," said former senator Rick Santorum (R-Pa.), who is outspoken in his opposition to McCain's candidacy. "Everybody has a McCain story. If you work in the Senate for a while, you have a McCain story. . . . He hasn't built up a lot of goodwill."
Last spring, McCain's confrontational side reappeared during a closed-door meeting of senators from both parties. After spending six weeks away from the Senate, he showed up for final negotiations on a fragile immigration bill, leading Sen. John Cornyn (R-Tex.) to question where he had been. McCain responded by swearing at Cornyn loudly and repeatedly, according to witnesses.
Is John's a steady hand to have perched over the nuclear button? How many times will we hear that this fall?

Mike Suckabee
If the fix isn't in, I'd be surprised. Mike knows who to suck-up to on Super Tuesday... Who can get him that job in Washington... Maybe even Veep? Oh, and only a liberal or a very confused conservative would argue with the fact that McCain is a liberal.
On this Super Sunday, it's fitting I suppose that Mike Huckabee would be out there blocking and tackling for Team McCain. Appearing on this morning's Today show, the former Arkansas governor made a pro forma claim that he's still running for president and not the veep slot. But Huckabee certainly seemed to be acting as what Mark Steyn described in a recent Hugh Hewitt interview as McCain's "wing man."
See the video.

The Trainwreck
In the race for the Republican Presidential Nomination, it’s John McCain at 33%, Mitt Romney at 29%, and Mike Huckabee at 21%. Ron Paul is supported by 6% of Likely Republican Primary Voters (see recent daily numbers). Romney leads by sixteen percentage points among conservatives while McCain has a two-to-one advantage among moderate Primary Voters.
That's McCain 33% and Conservatives 50%.
You're assuming a great deal if you think that when McCain gets the nomination... The Huckabee and Romney supporters will line up like loyal lads and automatically jump on John's bandwagon. After the antics he's pulled over the past 8 years... Don't wager your farm.
What we should be discussing is the fact that neither McCain nor Huckabee can put together a coalition of voters that has a chance to beat Clinton or Obama.
Huckabee would bring out most conservatives but would fail miserably with moderates and independents. Oddly, most Americans' "dream president" is not a wise-cracking former Baptist preacher from Arkansas with all the sophistication and personal gravitas of Jethro Bodine.
McCain can't win without an enthusiastic conservative base... Which will not materialize because conservatives despise McCain. They dislike liberal Democrats... But they despise McCain - and it's totally personal. He is the traitor in their midst.
Romney is the only one that could unite the Party... But with the moderates and independents going for McCain... and the anti-Mormon bigots mesmerized by Huckabee - That's not going to happen.
I think it's pretty much over. Maybe the smart thing for Republicans to do would be to pick the least offensive Democrat... And send her money.

The McCain Campaign's Morbidity
Granted, Ann Coulter has but one vote. But her words are indicative of McCain's "unelectability."
John can't get elected without the "enthusiastic" participation of Conservatives. And that isn't going to happen.

Conservatives Won't Rally
If the very liberal Rudy Giuliani had won the nomination, Conservatives would have been troubled. But I believe they would have rallied behind him, because he was the better choice... And they liked him... And they respected him.
Conservatives despise McCain. He is the ultimate "Republican In Name Only"... A man they held close... And who stabbed them in the back... Again... And again.
Whether it was immigration, taxes, campaign reform, embryonic research... McCain, as if vindictively "acting out" over being rejected by Conservatives in 2000, played more to the liberal press than to his party's base. As Mona Charren put it, "Every time the New York Times shows a little ankle, John goes weak at the knees."
John McCain is Bob Dole - without the conservatives' support - And that is a losing ticket.
