Dodging the Bullet

The Great Tuesday Night Storm created no power outages in our part of Indiana. All evening long the Doppler radar showed us to be right along the line separating rain from snow. I learned that this area evidently delivers only tons of dry sleet. So... our power lines, our trees were not coated with freezing rain, and remained intact.

Answered prayer.

I may or may not have been stalking your blog to see if you'd updated...so I could see if you kept your power. :) I'm glad you did.

I hope you stayed safe shoveling (if you shoveled). THat snow was the worst EVER for shoveling. Give me 3 feet of regular snow any day over 4 inches of icy snow.

Think of the money you saved not having to fly to California...

Bekah,

The highway department piled snow and ice at the end of my drive... Over a foot deep and a breadth of about 5 feet...

Couldn't use my snow shovel, had to use a regular shovel to break it into pieces... Got enough moved so that my 4-wheel-drive truck could make it through without getting hung up.

It took me about 30 minutes and I said "I'm too old for this" about 20 times. So I definitely relate to what you were saying.

Pupmeister:

I would made back some of that money with the free meals you would have fed me.

Glad you are well! I still think a trip to Skyepuppy's would have been fun! :-)

Chris,

I just heard that it's supposed to get up into the 80's this weekend. You still have time to catch a flight...

Delta,

Thanks for your concern!

SkyePuppy...

Tomorrow I'll be enjoying temps about 50 degrees lower than yours... Ice, snow, slush, cold, sick people... Everything good in life is on hold till April.

awww I'm sorry. I would have helped you - but gosh I'm not very strong. This I learned yesterday.

Bekah,

I'm certainly not as strong as I used to be, old man arthritis has taken its toll... But frankly it feels good to go outside in this weather and take care of business. I was praying as I shoveled... I hope I'm ready to go home...
I see my dad do things he shouldn't do, and I wonder if he is somehow daring the Lord to let him go... To take him home. I never say much to my dad at those times... I think he is determined to live his life, his faith... Maybe I shouldn't butt-in. It's between him and his intimate saviour.
Last fall I drove my truck into his driveway, he was on a ladder cleaning his gutters... I startled him, he fell back off the ladder and landed on his feet (at 89), and threw his ladder to the side. I didn't scold... I apologized for startling him.
I know he is ready... Living his life... And waiting for... His time.

Well, maybe you ain't as good as you once was, but I'll bet you're as good once as you ever was. Happy shovelling!
