Ted Kennedy R.I.P.

When I was 4 or 5 years old, I decided that "Ted" was the best name to have, and I couldn't understand why my parents hadn't named me "Ted." So for a while, I would answer to nothing but "Ted." If my family called me by my real name, I would ignore them.

My mother still sometimes calls me Ted.

OK. That's pretty much the nicest thing I can think of to post about Ted Kennedy. If you can't say something nice...

No, wait. Ted once said that he couldn't understand why the media was so critical of Dan Quayle. He said he had worked with Dan and he liked him.

OK. That's it.

Ted is more thoroughly explained Here: http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/story?id=8212665

Chris:

For those of us who have family members with disabilities, there are a few admirable qualities we noticed about Ted. He did work with Bush on No Child Left Behind. And we can't help but think of he and Eunice when we go to Special Olympics events.

I did not agree with Ted on several things. But, he did do some good.

Tsofah,

Your heart is MUCH, MUCH bigger than mine. I have remained silent on Teddy's passing, because everything I can think of that he has done would require me to say something critical, and it's just not right to do that at this time.

He's a human being and surely did some good in his life, and I hope he is in the arms of the savior. But the fact remains that only a Kennedy could survive and thrive politically and be perceived as a hero with a reckless history like his. But, look at it this way...Chappaquiddick probably DID prevent him from ever becoming president.

Grammy is correct when she says surely he did some good in his life. Don't get me wrong, I know he did a lot of not so good stuff. I disagreed with him a whole lot on a whole lot of things.

BUT: One thing he did which many of us can be thankful for is establishing the minimum wage.

Yes, that was Ted Kennedy's brainchild. It kept employers from being able to pay us only 2 or 3 dollars an hour for work that was deserving of 5 or 6 dollars an hour.

Ted helped his sister Eunice with funding Special Olympics as well as spreading the word about it.

He helped President Bush get the No Child Left Behind law passed. Of course, the teachers unions found ways around it that people like myself did not expect. Instead of being accountable for helping to education those with disabilities; they just expel them by labeling them as Behavior Disordered instead of Developmentally Disordered.

That is something that should be re-addressed btw. Ok, off THAT soapbox now...

I know as a youth, I was reckless. Am glad G-d does not hold that against me now. As far as Chappaquiddick goes, I can only say "there but for the grace of G-d goes Tsofah".

As Grammy said, I pray he is in the arms of Jesus. Only G-d truly knows us and our hearts.
