AARP Sides w/ Obama
From the AARP Site:
Don't Let the Myths About Health Care Reform Scare You.
There are special interest groups trying to block progress on health care reform by using myths and scare tactics. Like the notion that health care reform would ration your care, hurt Medicare or be a government takeover. Actually, these are false statements.
All of the health care reform plans currently being debated in Congress would ensure that you and your doctor are the ones making decisions about your health. The majority of working Americans will continue to receive their health care through their employer. In addition, health care reform will strengthen Medicare by eliminating billions of dollars in waste while lowering prescription drug prices.
Throughout the debate on how to fix what's broken about our health care system, AARP pledges to help you cut through the noise and find the facts about what health care reform means for you and your family. When we see special interests using scare tactics, we'll make sure you're given the facts so you can make informed decisions about health care reform.
Wow. I guess AARP is in the tank for Obama, the Democrats, and Socialism.

I'm in the middle of posting on AARP myself. I hope you haven't ever joined...
SP,
Me join AARP?
Oh please!
AARP kind of "joins" you whether you like it or not when you get to be around 55. We "unjoined" as soon as we figured out what a liberal agenda they have. I don't know what's up with them.
I did. I joined. I like the magazines.
Oh, I phoned them today and told them they were not representing me very well.
My membership is due to expire this month. I think I'll keep the $12.00 membership dues.
I forgot to explain: my dues are due because this dudette is due to turn older this weekend Dude. ;-D
Tsofah,
Be sure to tell them why you're not renewing. They need to have to face the truth.
I did Skye, I did.
Funny that "scare tactics" were not a problem for aarp when they rushed to declare that the sky was falling on senior's social security during that reform debate. Funny that they made an issue out of what was never in the proposed legislation. Funny that they now reject their members' concerns about what IS in the proposed legislation by labeling them "scare tactics."
Now AARP is back-tracking saying they are not endorsing any proposed healthcare reform. Maybe they aren't liking the feedback they are getting? They are "correcting" Pres. Obama's statement yesterday that AARP was endorsing his plan.
