Inexperience

From "The Kennedy-Khrushchev Conference for Dummies... Remedial history for Barack Obama." by Scott W. Johnson

By all accounts, including Kennedy's own, the meetings were a disaster. Khrushchev berated, belittled, and bullied Kennedy on subjects ranging from Communist ideology to the balance of power between the Soviet and Western blocs, to Laos, to "wars of national liberation," to nuclear testing.

Immediately following the final session on June 4 Kennedy sat for a previously scheduled interview with New York Times columnist James Reston at the American embassy. Kennedy was reeling from his meetings with Khrushchev, famously describing the meetings as the "roughest thing in my life." Reston reported that Kennedy said just enough for Reston to conclude that Khrushchev "had studied the events of the Bay of Pigs" and that he had "decided that he was dealing with an inexperienced young leader who could be intimidated and blackmailed."

In August, Khrushchev responded in his own fashion, erecting the Berlin wall and resuming above ground nuclear testing.

The following year brought the Cuban missile crisis, another sequel to Khrushchev's reading of Kennedy's weakness.

Inexperience and perceived weakness almost led to world war three.

Putin... A nuclear Iran... Can we afford an Obama presidency? We live in a dangerous world and McCain's experience and strength should sway any voter that understands the threat.

Except for 4-star general, former Chairman of the Joints Chief of Staff, straight shooting public servent patriot Colin Powell. I wonder if he might have a keener appreciation of the situation than you and that crowd that makes it's riches demonizing Democrats does.

Paw,

It's not demonizing anyone when we point out the fact that Obama is a lightweight. He has no legislative accomplishments that required overcoming opposition, so it's hard to imagine he'd be able to deal effectively with a pugnacious Putin or with Ahmadinejad.

And as for Colin Powell, all you folks on the left hated and vilified the guy for years. Now, all of a sudden when he says, "I like Obama," he's your new best friend. (rolls eyes)

The WaPo reported that McCain has the support of over 240 retired generals and admirals, mostly from the era when America fought to win.

Paw,

Take a gander at Michelle Malkin's Photo of the Day post. 'Nuff said.

Most Democrats and liberals never hated Powell. We always knew Powell was more level-headed than those around him, and acted through conscience rather than politics.

Mojo,

You're right. Calling him the "House N***er" was a form of endearment. My bad.

Read better, Pup.

Popularity Polls I'd like to see:
Obama vs McCain among:
1. OPEC Nations (What a great way to take domestic oil production off the table - drastically drop oil prices leading up to the election)
2. Prison Populations
3. Atheists and Humanists
4. Drug dealers
5. Illegal aliens
6. Pornographers
7. Russia
8. North Korea
9. China
