"Man" Murders 12 at Fort Hood

I had to read three quarters of the article before the author commented on the "Man's" Arabic sounding name.

A violent Muslim? Who would have thought?

The story didn't mention whether or not the "man" had run over his daughter recently.

Chris, I was wondering how his arabic name fit into the whole murderous rampage? Could he be, gasp....a muslim?

I was under the impression this "man" was a Nordic Mongolian.

If his name had been Sven Johannssen or Paddy O'Brien, the article would have been handled differently.

It would have been above-the-fold news if his name was Eli Goldberg....

Chris,

The man is shameful as a muslim. I understand he is not married and has fathered no children. What kind of devotee is that?

Skyepuppy,

Hey, any man, Muslim or not, who reaches this guy's age without a wife or children has to be a complete loser!

oh...

Did you choke on that foot in your mouth after the last comment? ;-D

On a more serious note: the man's parents were Arabs in former Palestine (i.e. Jordan/Israel). They left there in 1940.

He should have never been sent to Ft. Hood. When they saw problems he was having during his medical training as well as his time at Walter Reed - he should have been given a discharge then.

You just don't put a person as unstable as him into a combat situation!

The army I grew up under would have rooted this guy out far earlier than this.

Reinstating the money taken out because of those defense spending cuts could help prevent those cracks that folks slip through. In this case, though, I think that "crack" may resemble the Grand Canyon.

Tsofah,

I fear today's military is a little too politically correct for its own safety and effectiveness.

Hey everyone - My son, Ryan is going back to Iraq the Monday after Thanksgiving. He'll be away from his wife and daughter for about a year. His training for his mission has been gruelling. Just this week he's had to slap a woman as hard as he could, take extremely strong pepper spray in his eyes without closing them and get tazed. He's a Chief Warrant Officer, which is still where the rubber meets the road as far as action goes. I'm confident that the military is still tough as nails at that level and they are getting great training. Unfortunately, political correctness dictates a lot of high level decision making. I wish I had confidence in his Commander in Chief. Please include Ryan and his family in your prayers. His seven year old daughter is very sad. She's experienced a lot of loss for a little girl - two grandparents that she was very close to.

Thanks!

PS: He's based out of Fort Hood, but he's elsewhere for his mission training.

Grammy,

Ryan, his wife and daughter, you and the entire family will be in my prayers. Please tell him that we are more grateful than it is possible to express for his willingness to serve and keep us safe.
