Malott's Blog Asks!

Today's Subject... Sarah Palin

Malott's Blog Asks: Could the Lunatic Left possibly hate Sarah Palin any more than they do?

Our Answer: Yes. If Palin was black, they would definitely hate her more. When an African American becomes a conservative, in the minds of the Lunatic Left they become a kind of run-away slave, no longer the property of the Left... And the former property is subject to lynching. (Justice Clarence Thomas could tell us something about that.) So as both a female and a black, Palin would be a double turncoat and hated even more.

Malott's Blog Asks: Does the Lunatic Left hate anyone more than they hate Sarah Palin.

Our Answer: No one we can think of...
Radical Islam? No... The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
Murderers and rapists? No... They are a product of environment and the NRA.
Satan? No... The Lunatic Left loves its spiritual advisor.

Malott's Blog Asks: Can Sarah Palin reverse her polling negatives among independent voters and become a viable candidate... a winner?

Our Answer: Not likely... That would be a monumental task considering both her unfair treatment and her past mediocre performance. However...
1) If she can retire her whiny, annoying public speaking voice... Something she accomplished in her 8 minute Gabby Giffords shooting response video... I was impressed...
2) If she can appear knowledgeable, reasoned, and competent... (Like she did in that video.) and if she can find a way to exude a gravitas equal to or greater than the competition...
3) If in the nominating process, at the end of the day, Palin can prove herself to be formidable, and not just the sentimental favorite of conservatives...

Like I said... It's not likely... But Malott's Blog has been wrong once or twice before...

Two thoughts:

1. The left can hate someone more than Palin...actually, two someones: God and George Bush (but Bush is a close tie with Palin).

2. I don't think Palin can or should run. She's over-exposed herself and it's harder now to take her seriously as a candidate for president. I also think she's just become far too polarizing to be able to win, not to mention that she just simply isn't ready.

Chistina (and Chris),

You're absolutely right. Palin has too many strikes against her for a presidential run. Her two biggest strengths are:

1. Campaigning for and supporting good conservative candidates. When she supports someone, that person gains instant name recognition that can help at the ballot box against the RINOs picked by the good-ole-boy network.

2. Acting as a lightning rod for the Left's attacks. As long as they think she might run, they'll focus their venom on her and give the other more viable candidates some breathing room.

So I want her to keep hinting at running, but I don't want her to actually run.

Christina and Skyepuppy...

I definitely agree that Palin would face an uphill battle if got the nomination.

Are you two pulling for anyone yet?

Who would stand the best chance - as things stand now - against Obama?

There's nobody out there with name recognition who I'd want to run. Romney seems to be the Country-Club Republican candidate. He's got Romneycare around his neck and, as I understand, cooperated with his Democratic legislature a whole lot more than Christie is with his legislature. And Huckabee was very much a moderate as governor. His policies, if brought to the national stage, would continue us on the course to fiscal ruin.

I'd love to see someone with Christie-like determination to slash spending and break the unions and who also has Jindal-like corruption-fighting stamina. I don't see that person yet.

SP,

Yes, and it's kind of early...

I just heard Chris Wallace say Pawlenty had cut spending and used the veto pen in Minnesota, but he has yet to gain traction.

Huckabee gave us McCain... Don't wish to reward that.

There are many Christians who wouldn't vote for a Mormon...
Like you said... I don't see the RKG yet.

I think the Republican candidate will come out of right field (couldn't bring myself to say left field) and definitely shouldn't be any of the "also tried" from last time around. There's a lot of fresh republican meat out there. And we'd better face it - charisma wins elections. We have to go there. Fortunately, we should be able to find charisma and substance

It's doubtful Palin would even come close to winning if she were to run for office.

I'm still hoping for Bobby Jindal...

...Or Norman Schwartzkopf.

I guess I never answered your question.

If I had my choice, I'd pick Mike Pence. From what I know and have heard of him, I think Paul Ryan would be fine too.

I really don't want any of the "also ran" candidates from last time around. Give me someone new and fresh. I do NOT want Huckabee, Romney, Donald Trump or Palin. McCain need not apply either.
