Rick Warren Endorses Prop 8

Thats very nice, but recently on Larry King Live he said he was not Anti-Gay Marriage.

Then Joel Osteen appears with King and seems confused about the whole thing.

Who are these guys? Are they the new face of Christianity in this country?

Neither bothered to mention that homosexuality is sin. I shudder to think that these two don't know that it would be better that they have a millstone tied about their neck and be tossed in the sea - than that they mislead anyone.

What are they thinking? Do they have no appreciation for Biblical authority?

In short, no, they don't.

Everybody knows that speaking about Biblical authority and absolute truth isn't going to make you popular or rich. It's only going to make you a "hateful, judgemental, homophobic bigot".

It's much easier to give in and be liked.

Heck, there are some days when I get so tired of being "hateful and judgemental". I just want to be liked by people who I thought were at least civil. I get sick of having to defend myself to a bunch of unthinking, unknowledgeable people who have bought into all the lies. I wish it wasn't this way. I am tired of fighting, but never to the point of giving up my principles, which these two "preachers" have obviously done.

They've sold out to fame and fortune...and they're dragging a lot of unsuspecting people down the wrong path with them.

Christina,

Exactly... And these are smart, educated men so I figure they know what they are doing... And they surely know the penalty.

It's as if they simply don't believe. Instead of speaking the truth and promoting Christ, they promote their careers.

Being loved by the world has its rewards, but they're temporary.

"If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first." --Jesus

Oh, and can you believe how the two videos make Warren an absolute liar?

I have not liked Rick Warren's theology, ever. Have never picked up or read any of his books. Wasn't too impressed with his interviews of John McCain or Barack Obama. And, no, when it comes to "the egg hitting the skillet" as my grandpa used to say, I don't know just how open and honest he is.

So many pastors have sold out to the business model of pastoring churches. The bigger the better. The more church members you have the more stuff they give you and try to win brownie points with you.

Now, there is nothing wrong with writing books and sharing your faith. What is wrong is copping out when it matters the most. Since he won't say it, I will:

I am 100 percent strongly against Gay or Homosexual Marriage. I am 100 percent sure Homosexuality is sin - not only in the days of Moses, but in the present day as well. No, I do not endorse stoning homosexuals. I DO endorse enforcing the laws on the books the same for homosexuals as they are enforced for heterosexuals.

No special rights. Don't flaunt your sin. And...yes, I dare say this: Go back to your closet and keep your sexual choices THERE! That's what the heterosexual community does!

Homosexuality is sin. Period.

Tsofah - you hit the nail on the head about running churches on a business model. When G-d's people achieve huge cultural success it is often followed by a crash and then God raises up a remnant. Churches don't fall into the crazy "too big to fail" model.
