This is my favorite picture of Mom.
She loved her family. She served the Church.
She made incredible pies.
She loved hymns and sang alto.
She tap danced a little.
She came from a broken home, and it showed sometimes.
She had good manners and was kind.
She was a faithful wife for 65 years.
She encouraged her children. Her tenderness held us and made us feel secure and loved. For us, Home was her embrace.

Chris, my heart breaks for you! I read Lisa's FB post last night and I just hurt!!! I know it's good that she's free of pain and seeing Jesus but I know it's so hard. Big, big hugs to you, dear friend!! And many prayers. If there is anything I can do, say the word!
Oh, Chris! How come Bekah always says first the things that I want to say (except the FB post part)?
I love that you said your mom came from a broken home, because it means even more that she made sure she didn't give you one.
You and your family are in my prayers (said through tears) for strength, for comfort, for peace, and yes, even for joy. Take heart, my friend.
My thoughts and prayers are with you. I remember her smile!
So sorry for your loss, but it's only for a while. I know the pain of watching death approaching a parent. It was not God's original plan and it always makes me angry. When my parents died I took great comfort in Psalm 116 "Precious in the eyes of the Lord is the death of his faithful ones." This is no "Oh well" moment. It's a very big deal to God.
There are not words. Losing a parent is so, so hard- especially one's mother. How wonderful the Lord gave you such a loving person to be your mother. May Our Lord give you His comfort and His peace as you grieve. I pray there are friends and family who stay close not just during the next few days -but also throughout the next year. May you share memories and stories that bring a smile, a laugh, and yes, a few tears which help heal your heart in the passing of your mother. HUGS
