Righteous and Ineffective
Mike Pence recently criticized Donald Trump for saying he wouldn't sign a federal abortion ban.
But when Pence suggests that the federal government should pass laws banning abortion, isn't he saying that the federal government has the right to decide the abortion issue... Which means they can also make laws making abortion legal nationwide?
For 50 years we've been quoting the 10th Amendment and saying that because abortion is not mentioned in The Constitution, the states have the right to make their own abortion laws.
I'm Pro Life, but I know what will happen if the federal government decides when protected life begins. Every Pro Life Republican should be telling his congressman, his senators, and his presidential candidate to shut up and stay out of it.
We live in a sexually immoral country and abortion will always be available because a majority of women want the right to terminate their unborn children. For now, states and communities have the right to regulate abortion and make laws that reflect their morals and values. I really believe this is as good as it's going to get.
And I fear that Mike Pence and the Pro Life Movement may continue to promote a national ban on abortion until the backlash makes abortion legal everywhere and there is a clinic in every neighborhood.
