Repenting of My Previous Post...

Tsofah,

I appreciate your sensitivities.

For years I have believed that Senator Kennedy is a very bad man. And while I would wish cancer on no one, for me to now collapse into a fit of concern and compassion would be disingenuous. We are all going to die... (I know I plan to...) and the Senator can afford to pass painlessly and peacefully.

Maybe we should pray that this illness would cause the Senator to publicly repent - and thus glorify G_d.

Maybe the Senator will publicly turn away from his support of abortion, the gay agenda, His efforts to separate G_d from our schools and our institutions... And maybe he will repent of his personal life style.

I believe G_d uses illness to bless people... By getting their attention off the world and onto Him.

Senator Kennedy has the opportunity to turn a lifetime of mistakes into a glorious witness. Maybe we should pray for that.

Yes, we should pray for that. While he still breathes, Kennedy has time to get right with God.

I'm in total agreement, Chris.

To act as if (not unlike the MSM) Teddy led a life that truly advanced our country for the better would be dishonest and insincere.

As Tsofah knows, Jewish law requires the public airing of ones transgressions. The issues Chris wrote about weren’t slanderous or untrue, nor were we engaged in gossip.

Janice:

There's Jewish law without life, and there's Jewish law WITH life.

I've never been to a shul or congregation where public airing of one's transgressions is a part.

The only people Jesus was critical of were the priests who used the law to condemn and look down upon others. I do believe He referred to them as "snakes and vipers".

Publicans (regardless of their party...chuckle...)and sinners and those who were both :-) were some of His favorites to hang out with. As He told the religious head honchos in Mark 2:

But, hearing the question, Yeshua answered them, "The ones who need a doctor aren't the healthy but the sick. I didn't come to call the `righteous' but sinners!"

Ted Kennedy, like myself, is a sinner in need of G-d's grace. It's just that his sins are more public than mine.

Mallot:

So many times people complain that it shouldn't take someone being on their "deathbed" in order for that person to get right with G-d.

IMHO, we should pray for that for him, regardless. It should not take a person to be on a deathbed, as such for us to pray for THEM.

I don't know about you, but I as I am not without sin, throwing stones at a time of crisis doesn't work for me.

Now...if a person is healthy...

OUCH! I got hit first! ;-)

Tsofah, I too am a sinner.

That said, the law which I refer is the right of the people to know the truth (good and bad) about someone who, like Teddy, has the potental to affect a business transaction, family relations and society.

I'll admit I didn't pray specifically for Teddy (outside the general scope of our nations leaders) before this and he hasn't been the subject of daily devotions since.

I don't wish Teddy or anyone ill and to speak about the offensive actions of a public figure (sick or well) is a freedom we enjoy without threat in this country.

Funny how Mal uses "G_d" when he want to convince us he's pious, but feels free to write "God" anywhere else.

You said: "I don't wish Teddy or anyone ill and to speak about the offensive actions of a public figure (sick or well) is a freedom we enjoy without threat in this country."

Yes, we do. That is not an issue as far as I'm concerned. We can speak of it, and I do speak of it.

When someone is hurting, however, I do not think it pleases the Lord for us to poke fun at it. "It rains on the righteous and the unrighteous", or "the just and the unjust".

I know I have an illness that I battle daily; there is no know cure. I maintain.

Jesus was once asked about a man who was blind from birth. He was asked if it was the sin of the man's mother, or father, that caused his blindness. The answer Jesus gave was "Neither, but so that G-d may be glorified".

Now, Malott's article was not a major blunder or anything like that. I did not think that which I wrote was that big of a deal. It was just a heartfelt comment.

Yes, Ted Kennedy is a sinner. (as am I). Yes we have the right to disagree with him. Yes, we have the right to poke fun, if we want to. That is under the law of the U.S.

But, knowing Malott's desire to be pleasing to the Lord G-d, I just commented.

There's no anger, no malice.

Definately no intent to see a follow up article engaging what I wrote.

I'm sorry this has gone to this extent...

Shalom rav...

Tsofah,

The reason why I wrote the follow-up post was because I thought you made a good point... I guess you kind of "shamed" me into it. I figured you were just encouraging me to present a "better" side... So I did the best I could.

Mojo,

Lest you misunderstand, Tsofah is Jewish and writes "G_d"... So when I'm writing to her, I write His names the same way out of respect.

But it's true. I am pious. I am so very pious that I have piety oozing from my every pore. I pee and poop piety, Mojo. It's just the way I am.

I'm reverent, Godly, pious... I'm Malott!

While yes, my ancestry is Jewish, I do believe in Jesus. (just to try to keep confusion at a minimum - smile).

You frighten me.

God is omniscient, y'know. When you write "G_d", He knows you're not talking about Gad or Gxd.

You simply BELIEVE this is true, no more, no less. Lots of mentally disturbed people believe things that aren't true - this is not a debatable fact. Whether you are mentally ill is debatable - but what you have said there does not sound like a normal person to me. You have one holy mess of fear(s) keeping you in place - it's pitiable to hear your rationalizations.

I never cease to be amazed at the arrogance and close-mindedness of fundies. Don't you people ever feel ashamed about your bigotry?

Anonymous,

You are truly a piece of work.

Take a deep breath... and another one...

Now, think again about whether or not Malott really believes what he wrote and you quoted. Have you heard of "tongue in cheek" before?

Priceless...

Chris,

Congratulations on making the Fundies list again!

Skyepuppy,

Have you ever witnessed such hatred? Godless is never a good idea.

janice said...

And these Godless individuals think we're intolerant?!?!?!

Congrats Chris, is this the second time you've made the list?

Janice,

2nd... maybe 3rd.
