Conservatives Take Canada

Stephen Harper, a conservative, will be the new Prime Minister of our neighbor to the north. The sun set on solid "red" as the Conservatives dominated in the west, taking 48 out of 56 seats in the Prairies and sweeping all 28 seats in Alberta.
From the AP:

Many Canadians had grown weary of the broken promises and corruption scandals under the Liberal Party and were apparently willing to give Harper the benefit of doubt, despite fears the 46-year-old economist was too extreme in his views opposing abortion and gay marriage.

He sounds OK to me. But I wonder how much trouble he will get from Canada's liberal media. As we Republicans know, success can be twisted to look like a kind of failure. I also wonder if the alternative media in this country or Fox News had any effect on the Canadian election. I wonder if our beloved Democrats feel more isolated this morning.
