Peter Heck Makes New Friends on Left

We had a bit of a controversy here that I wanted to tell you about:

Peter Heck gave the commencement address at our High School last Sunday.  When he finished, the entire graduating class and audience gave him a standing ovation... He sat down, but they remained on their feet until he stood again to acknowledge their applause.

The controversy arose when someone who I assume doesn't like Peter's politics, called WRTV-6 in Indianapolis and quoted Peter out of context saying,  "We don’t need more women as CEOs."

The Associated Press picked it up and... Well, Peter explains on his site:

Excerpt from "A Life of Rebellion" by Peter Heck

When I wrote the challenge to the graduating seniors of the Eastern High School class of 2013, I never had any idea that The Today Show, MSNBC, MSN, Yahoo, the Daily Caller, the Huffington Post, and ABC News would care what I said.  As it turns out, after perusing their coverage of my speech, I’m pretty convinced I was right – they didn’t care what I said.  They did care to sensationalize and distort my words for the sake of creating controversy, and thus getting attention.  What high journalistic integrity.

After all, it’s kind of amazing when you explicitly state to the females, "If you choose to have a career, God's blessings upon you" that the headline could be written: "Teacher tells girls don't work, stay at home." Good grief.

So, for the sake of providing full context that our illustrious media is not providing to anyone, here is the transcript of the relevant portion of the speech.

Ladies, I challenge you to a life of rebellion. To recognize that your body is a temple that is deserving of honor, not indiscretion. I challenge you to be women of virtue, finding beauty not in how many unprincipled men you can attract, but rather finding beauty in modesty and self-respect. I challenge you to devote yourself to family, to your children.

If you choose to have a career, God’s blessings upon you, but I challenge you to recognize what the world scoffs at…that your greatest role of your life will be that of wife and mother. That the greatest impact you will ever contribute to our world is a loving and devoted investment into the lives of your precious children. To solve the problems plaguing our society, we don’t need more women as CEOs, we need more women as invested mothers.

Men, I challenge you to a life of rebellion. To recognize that manliness is not defined by who bench presses the most, or who scores with the most women. I challenge you to recognize that the measure of a man is found in his character – his honesty, how well he can control his urges, his temptations, his desires...setting them aside for the good of others. I challenge you to find a woman to love, to commit yourself to her and her alone for the rest of your life.

I challenge you to be man enough that when a provocatively dressed woman comes on the television, turn the channel. Send the message to your wife that she alone captivates you and she is in competition with no one. You want to be a rebel – that’s a rebel. I challenge you to lead your homes in the pathway of righteousness. Provide moral clarity for your children and unyielding hard work for your wife.

So many times I’ve heard others compliment my wife for supporting my ministry, supporting what I do. They have it backwards. I work to support her ministry, what she does in raising our children. And it’s an honor to do so. To solve the problems plaguing our society, we don’t need more men as millionaire entrepreneurs, we need more men acting as fierce defenders of their wives and providers for their children.

Please note the instruction to men that we don't need more men entrepreneurs. Oddly, this was not made the headline. What was fairly self-evident to the open minded members of the audience, apparently eluded our always responsible national media.  That, sure we need CEOs and entrepreneurs, but "to solve the problems of our society," we need both men and women to remember their most lasting legacy is what they leave with their children.

I doubt that Meg Whitman would look at her children and tell them that what she's done at work is more significant and important to her than what she did raising and caring for them. That's my point. Home is most important for all of us.

As Micah Clark at the AFA-IN, to date the only news agency I am aware of that has bothered to report this story accurately, stated:
True or False: "You can never invest too much time in your children, but you can spend too much time in the office." If that statement is true, (and it is) what does that reveal . . . other than Peter was right? Besides, all he really said was that the pursuit of career must not crowd out, or overrule, your primary and most important role as a mom or a dad.

Those are comments, those are sentiments that I stand fully behind.  God help our culture if others do not.
.... .... .... .... .... ....

I'm very proud of my nephew Peter.  And I'm happy for him.  It's not every day a man is blessed by being persecuted for righteousness sake.

Buttprints in the Sand

One night I had a wondrous dream,
One set of footprints there was seen,
The footprints of my precious Lord,
But mine were not along the shore.

But then some strange prints appeared,
And I asked the Lord, "What have we here?"
Those prints are large and round and neat,
"But Lord, they are too big for feet."

"My child," He said in somber tones,
"For miles I carried you along.
I challenged you to walk in faith,
But you refused and made me wait."

"You disobeyed, you would not grow,
The walk of faith, you would not know,
So I got tired, I got fed up,
And there I dropped you on your butt."

"Because in life, there comes a time,
When one must fight, and one must climb,
When one must rise and take a stand,
Or leave their butt prints in the sand."

Quote for the Day

"Life is the front yard on which we waddle about praising God until He lets us in the front door...  Life hurts only when we pretend it's more than that."

Ward Cleaver Becomes Homer Simpson

Generally it is politically incorrect for commercials to portray women as stupid and ignorant.  And this commercial would never have been produced if the wise and informed male had been white.  But Black trumps White Female as Female (of any color) trumps White Male.

And obviously, the faux French model and oaf could never be black.  That would be like resurrecting Buckwheat.

I dream of a day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to be portrayed on television as complete and utter dumb asses.  Then we will know we are free at last and truly equal.

A Quote for Our Times

When the righteous triumph, there is great elation;
but when the wicked rise to power, people go into hiding,

And blog very little.

Home Improvements

With the election results still giving me pain, I have decided to spend my money while it is still worth something.

I had my driveway paved, but you'll just have to imagine that.

In my bedroom my TV sat upon ugly 5 foot tall shelves that were basically unstained pine boards screwed together... And my TV was tipped forward by placing the base on telephone books.

The mounting device shown below cost 50 bucks at Sam's Club and took 2 hours to install... but ten minutes of that were spent planning and another 45 minutes were spent pacing around worrying about it.  The ladder shelves cost 99 dollars at Sam's and took 90 minutes to assemble.  They match the color of my bedroom furniture.  The small light is connected to the bedroom's light switch.

The TV now swivels right and left and up and down.  The angle seen here is aimed at my pillow.

Some time in January I'll post pics of my new chairs and tables in my den... They haven't all arrived yet.

In the spring I may sell my stocks and install replacement windows.  I figure the money I spend is money that Obama can neither confiscate nor devalue.

Arizona Gun Store Owner Bans Obama Voters

Mr. Reynolds, owner of Southwest Shooting Authority says “business is booming” after his sign and newspaper ad caught the attention of various media outlets. The sign read: “If you voted for Barack Obama, your business is not welcome at Southwest Shooting Authority. You have proven you’re not responsible enough to own a firearm.”

“People are saying that I’ve alienated half of our customers,” Reynolds said, laughing. “No, I haven’t. I haven't alienated any of my customers, because the people who voted for Obama don’t buy guns here. They don't come here at all. I haven’t alienated. I’ve improved things. I have packages sitting on my desk to be shipped to places like Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, Idaho, Nevada and California.”

He said he will not be conducting a litmus test to determine the customer’s political views but that he is considering giving discounts to registered Republicans and Libertarians.

Mr. Reynolds admits that there haven’t been any serious attempts by the Obama administration to change America’s gun laws, but he suspects that is coming now that the president has been reelected.

I love this story.  Obama and Washington may legislate us into decline, but freedom is an attitude of the heart, and it is a very subborn thing.  It will not bow and go away quietly.

From My Half-Brother John

Good morning:
We've done our duty as we always must. Now, if indeed things must get worse before the Lord comes, let's get on with it. God is still on His throne this morning. Instead of worrying about the things that might happen, let's rejoice in what we know "will" happen. If we are ready, what do we have to fear?

Quote of the Day

“Did your son always have balls the size of cue balls?”
--Vice President Joe Biden, to Charles Woods, the bereaved father of slain Navy Seal Tyrone Woods at the ceremony in which the four caskets from Benghazi were welcomed home.

According to Mark Stein, this was yelled in a “loud and boisterous” voice as he approached Mr Woods at the ceremony.  Biden, who is a "heartbeat away from the presidency," evidently thought this was appropriate for the occasion.

I would comment on Vice President Biden's manners, but Stein said it best:   "But the near-parodic locker-room coarseness is grotesque both in its inaptness and in its lack of basic human feeling for a bereaved family forced to grieve in public and as crowd-scene extras to the political bigshot. Just about the only formal responsibility a vice president has is to attend funerals without embarrassing his country. And this preening buffoon of pseudo-blue-collar faux-machismo couldn’t even manage that."

Quote of the Day

"My faith in Christ is central to my life. My conversion from a pessimistic atheist lost in a world I didn’t understand, to an optimistic believer in a universe created and sustained by a loving God is crucial to me.  But following Christ does not mean following His followers. Christ is infinitely more important than Christianity and always will be, no matter what Christianity is, has been or might become.”

Obama Booze

As the midwest's most exclusive think-tank, Malott's Blog recognizes its responsibilities to the country and endeavors to share its wisdom with those deemed worthy.  It is in that spirit that we seek to advise Governor Romney of our can't miss strategy for the upcoming election.

The entire staff at Malott's Blog believes Romney should suspend all campaign commercials the last week before the election, and use that money to purchase several thousand cases of cheap scotch whiskey.  To each bottle attach a note which reads, "You got your Obama Phone... Here is your Obama Booze.  So relax!  This election is in the bag!  Help me celebrate.  Yours truly, Barrack."

On Monday November 5th distribute the Obama Booze in all heavily Democrat Precincts in every swing state across the nation.

On election day, November 6th, the freebie-loving reprobate base of the Democrat Party will be too hungover to get out and vote.

It just makes sense.

Amazing Bonanza Facts for October

The character Hoss Cartwright was actually named Eric Haas Cartwright.  Hoss Cartwright was born in 1836, somewhere between California and Nevada. He is the son of Ben Cartwright and his second wife, Inger Borgstrom, a Swedish immigrant.

The opening credits would alternate the order among the four stars.

Ben Cartwright had three wives: Elizabeth (English), Inger (Swedish) and Marie (French Creole). All three wives were not around long enough to see their children grow up: Elizabeth died in childbirth, Inger was shot by an Indian with an arrow when Hoss was only a few weeks old, and Marie fell off of a horse and was killed when Joe was only five.

Dan Blocker (Hoss) weighed 14 pounds at birth, then the largest baby ever born in Bowie County, Texas.

The Ponderosa/Bonanza Steakhouses are inspired by the television show. The Bonanza Steakhouses were started by Dan Blocker and the Ponderosa Steakhouses were started by businessmen in Canada. Both are now owned by the same company.

Dan Blocker died in 1972 from a blood clot in his lung.  Lorne Greene died in 1987 of pneumonia following heart surgery.  Michael Landon died in 1991 of pancreatic cancer.  Pernell Roberts died in 2010 of pancreatic cancer.

Amazing.

Bonanza reruns can be seen every afternoon on TVLand...
